Richard Ford Quotes

Married life requires shared mystery even when all the facts are known.

Most things don’t stay the way they are for very long.  I take nothing for granted and try to be ready for the change that’s soon to come.

Richard Ford (born 1944) is an American novelist and short story writer.  One of his most recognized and honored works is the novel, INDEPENDENCE DAY, which earned him a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1996.

It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.

From Hebrews 13:5:  “Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

George Lorimer (1867-1937) was an American author, journalist, and publisher.  One of his most enduring accomplishments was editing THE SATURDAY EVENING POST from 1899 to 1936.

Tomorrow Postponed

Gallant ship at risk

Battered by stormy seas

Crew now in peril

Bringing all to their knees

Wayward direction

No other help about

Lost in dark tempest

Navigating with doubt

Evil’s doom waiting

Chaos stirring despair

Waves follow waves

Growling like hungry bears

Hope draining away

Gloomy clouds hiding day

Erratic compass

Searching for tranquil bay

Turmoil faced alone

Unwelcome darkness roams

Light ahead invites

Sailing toward safety’s home

Beacon now fading

Promise dwindles away

Tomorrow postponed

Surrendering its way

George Orwell Quotes

Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.

One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes a revolution in order to establish a dictatorship.

English novelist and journalist, George Orwell (1903-1950), was an outspoken political commentator, but he was much better known for his literary works, including the novels 1984 and ANIMAL FARM.

Beth Moore Quote

Faith is not believing in my own unshakable belief.  Faith is believing an unshakable God when everything in me trembles and quakes.

From 2 Timothy 4:7:  “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.”

Beth Moore (born 1957) is an American Christian evangelist, author, and teacher.

Charlie Chaplin Quotes

The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people.  And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

I remain just one thing, and one thing only–and that is a clown.  It places me on a far higher plane than any politician.

Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) was an English-born comic actor and filmmaker.  His iconic portrayal of “The Tramp” will always remain one of the film industry’s most important characters.

Jess Connolly Quote

Let’s quit trying to be the hero.  God is the hero.  I am only part of the rescue plan.

From Isaiah 55:9-11:  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Jess Connolly (born 1984) is an American writer and life coach.  Much of her writing focuses on family and faith.  She assisted her husband, Nick, in starting a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
