Charles Hodge Quote

Faith is not a blind, irrational conviction.  In order to believe, we must know what we believe, and the grounds on which our faith rests.

From 1 Corinthians 2:4-5:  “My speech and my proclamation were made not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.”

Charles Hodge (1797-1878) was an American theologian and Christian teacher.

Life’s Precious Links

Modest home’s hidden treasures

Forgotten for many years

Covered in dusty cobwebs

Docked at legacy’s lost pier

Climbing rickety ladder

Stepping into lifetime past

Lonely attic’s been waiting

Ship’s sails secure at each mast

Granted permission to board

Organized in tidy rows

Yesteryears displayed with love

Past voyages say hello

Quartermaster, our tour guide

Opening one box, then more

Years from long ago, shine bright

Emotions begin to soar

Resurrected memories

Each surprise follows with more

Connecting life’s precious links

Echoes from past come ashore

The team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.

Celebrate what you’ve accomplished, but raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed.

Mia Hamm (born 1972) is an American professional soccer player.  She played on teams who captured two Olympic gold medals as well as two World Cup championships.  She was a member of the U.S. national team from 1987 to 2004.

Hope’s Voice

From the words of Scottish evangelist and Christian teacher, Oswald Chambers:  “If we think of prayer as the breath in our lungs and the blood from our hearts, we think rightly.”

Thinking as Jesus taught

Prayer’s breath offers peace

Blood enriched in one’s heart

Light fills faith’s every piece

Spurring each other on

Prayer links faith as one

Devotion encouraged

God sends His blessed Son

Believing Father’s Word

Prayer becomes hope’s voice

Each hour, without ceasing

Shepherd’s flock shall rejoice

Praising Christ for His light

Prayer leads to support

Faithful mercy arrives

Answers sail to each port

Walking always in faith

Prayer fills lungs with joy

Conscious of Savior’s grace

Holy Spirit deploys

From 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:  “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

A. W. Pink Quote

Photo by Tima Miroshnichenko on Pexels.com

Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude–an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God.

From Romans 12:12:  “Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer.”

Arthur Walkington (A. W.) Pink (1886-1952) was an English Bible teacher and Christian writer.  Following his death, many of his writings were well-received by readers.  This turnabout established him as an influential evangelical author.

There is power in speaking dreams into existence.

When the world tells you to shrink . . . expand.
