Sheila Walsh Quote

Knowledge can be learned, but wisdom must be earned.  Wisdom is knowledge . . . lived.

From Proverbs 8:1-2:  “Does not wisdom call and understanding raise her voice?  On the heights, beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand.”

Sheila Walsh (born 1956) is a Scottish-born, American contemporary Christian vocalist.  Her journey has also taken her into writing, speaking, and evangelizing.

Wise sayings often fall on barren ground; but a kind word is never thrown away.

The most enthusiastic man in a cause is rarely chosen as the leader.

Sir Arthur Helps (1813-1875) was an English writer.  He was an early advocate for animal rights.

Robert Burns Quotes

Look abroad through Nature’s range, Nature’s mighty law is change.

Prudent, cautious self-control is wisdom’s root.

Robert Burns (1759-1796) was a Scottish poet and lyricist.  He was also known as Rabbie Burns, and he was recognized as the national poet of his native Scotland.

Conviction about God’s truth is like an anchor holding you steady in the waves of temptation and the winds of opinion.

From Daniel 1:16-17:  “So the guard continued to withdraw their royal rations and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables.  To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill in every aspect of literature and wisdom; Daniel also had insight into all visions and dreams.”

Franklin Pierce Quotes

But let not the foundation of our hope rest upon man’s wisdom.

It must be felt that there is no national security but in the nation’s humble, acknowledged dependence upon God and His overruling providence.

Franklin Pierce (1804-1869) was the 14th President of the United States.  He was a resident of the state of New Hampshire.

From Psalm 51:10-12:  “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.  Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your holy spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.”

Charles Stanley Quote

Without God, we would fail, and our constant companions would be worry and distress.  But with Him, we receive true wisdom and divine power.

From Galatians 5:22-23:  “By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against such things.
