Final Quest

From Colossians 1:19-20:  “For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him God was pleased to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross.”

Haunting scene, filled with greed

Darkness shadows with fear

Every path now seems blocked

Cross waiting to appear

Journey of life backs up

Selfishness cuts in front

Noise in streets never dims

Cross waiting to confront

Sorrows keep piling up

Every heart feeling stress

Shattered hope, faith absent

Cross waiting to address

Life refreshed, poured from grace

Compassion fills His heart

Savior’s body and blood

Cross ready to impart

Mountains of sin paid for

Mercy now comes to rest

Blessing of Father’s love

Cross completes final quest

From 1 Corinthians 1:18:  “For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Always Near

From Isaiah 40:10-11:  “See, the Lord God comes with might, and His arm rules for Him; His reward is with Him and His recompense before Him.  He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms and carry them in His bosom and gently lead the mother sheep.”

Jim Cymbala Quote

Looking back over my life, all I can see is mercy and grace written in large letters everywhere.  May God help me have the same kind of heart toward those who wound or offend me.

From Ephesians 4:31-32:  “Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice.  Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”

Jim Cymbala (born 1942) is an American pastor and Christian author.  He firmly believes that God will share His goodness in our lives.

Releasing Mercy

From John 12:12-13:  “The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.  So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, shouting, ‘Hosanna!  Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!'”

From Ephesians 1:7-9:  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us.  With all wisdom and insight He has made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure that He set forth in Christ.”

Mercy Conquers

From Psalm 69:14:  “Rescue me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.”

When you find yourself slumping in shame or giving way to guilt, remind yourself of this:  You have been chosen by the Good Shepherd.  He wants you in His flock.

From John 15:16:  “You did not choose me, but I chose you.  And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask Him in My name.”

By Faith Alone

From the words of American pastor and Christian author, Charles Swindoll:  “When I’m able, by faith, to sense God’s hand in my situation, my attitude will be right.”

Always With Us
