Monday Memories: My Lovely Lady

beautiful bloom blooming blossom

Each morning, she waits with calmness

Her attitude reflects poise and kindness

She cherishes conversation, sitting at my knee

Listening attentively, she enjoys being with me

Her appearance shows off beauty and her shape

Inviting me to meet her for another special date

She has become an independent thinker

Dreaming of new adventures, she tinkers

She doesn’t mind others taking a mid-day nap

Sleeping for a few winks, she’s out in a snap

She welcomes the weather on sunny days

Frowning when rain clouds gather to stay

She looks forward to sweet morning walks

Experiencing nature, she seldom ever talks

Sometimes at dusk, she lets out a fright

Watching out a window, deer in her sight

Allow me to introduce this loyal and lovely lady

She’s been a perfect friend, her name is Sadie

sadie.jpg

Sadie is an English Lab, and she is a dear friend to her family.  Sometimes, I am invited to help watch her when family is away.  As you can see, she loves her nap time.

Here is a link to the first poem featuring Sadie.  It was published back in November, 2018.

Welcoming Thy Neighbor

From Romans 15:5-6:  “May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Working through each of us

Nurturing Word of God

Building up each neighbor

Sharing love of Jesus

Calling each believer

Stepping into life’s void

Following Spirit’s lead

Willing to share burdens

Observing their struggles

Praying for others’ needs

Welcoming thy neighbor

Living in harmony

Thriving to gather time

Helping hands step forward

Making a difference

Walking in Christ’s footprints

Accepting each other

Teaching from Father’s Word

Comforting and helping

Showing love to neighbors

From Galatians 5:14:  “For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'”

Turning life upside down

Darkness fuels discontent

Grief fills daily breakdowns

Hopelessness speeds descent

Reaching out to others

Care arrives through their grace

Like words from grandmother

Life moves to better place

Breathing, moving forward

Journey begins to smile

Ship now sails straightforward

Life transitions, each mile

Healing day by day

Sunshine now reappears

Precious words stop to say

Tender thoughts, always near

Monday Memories: Running in Life’s Marathon

This poem was previously published in March, 2019.  During this time, more of my writing was inspired by Christian themes.

Photo by RUN 4 FFWPU on Pexels.com

Some equate dealing with this life to running a race

Of course, sometimes we pause and turnabout face

Wise people say, “Persistent and steady wins the race”

Better than hurrying to eat dinner without saying grace

Others encourage with, “Hurry up and build it now”

Oh my!  Can’t one stop to relax and take a bow?

Another calls out, “Experience it today works best”

What about using tomorrow—no worries one jests!

All of the above wisdom may be honest and true

But God will wait patiently until we are all through

We are all imperfections in God’s all-seeing eyes

Life will bring new challenges as each year flies

There is always another hill to climb so we can see

The greener grass sometimes turns brown for thee

Life throws “stuff” along our way, not always good

Sometimes we lack courage to go when we should

It is time to finish the big race and succeed

Anything less sells us short of our final deed

All should count their blessings—so many

God fills us up with much joy for all and any

Life’s journey seems like a marathon run

Take it one day at a time, enjoy the fun!

Come to Me

From Matthew 11:28:  “Come to Me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Photo by Dominika Roseclay on Pexels.com

Weary, come to Me

Taking time to rest

Hearts filled with darkness

Hearing voice of Christ

Forgiveness granted

Pardoning with peace

Today fills with joy

Tasting Savior’s love

Drifters, come to Me

Seeking light of faith

Nighttime becomes day

Hearing voice of Christ

Hearts filled with sadness

Looking for His Word

Morning shares its grace

Flowing from our Lord

Sinners, come to Me

Welcoming each one

Doubt now shrinks away

Hearing voice of Christ

True freedom now rings

Calling us back home

Unworthy, no more

Trusting Christ, the King

This free-verse poem is inspired from the hymn, “Come unto Me, Ye Weary.”  Written and published by William Chatterton Dix in 1867, this hymn speaks from the Word of Jesus Christ, found in Matthew 11:28.

Steadfast Prayers

Photo by Tima Miroshnichenko on Pexels.com

Drought hardens fertile land

Faithfully sowing seeds

Reaching out to God’s hand

Praying for farmers’ needs

Weather forecasts no rain

Boldness in faith remains

Praying for crops of grain

Holding tight to God’s reins

Clouds covering high plains

Showers dancing away

Leaving tears, without rain

Filling hours with prayer

Faith shall never waver

Perseverance, God’s domain

Seeking His good favor

Waiting out this campaign

Steadfast prayers prevail

Bountiful, earthly grace

Sharing rain without fail

Bringing smiles to each face
