Monday Memories: Sunrise

Walking in the morning pre-dawn light

Waiting for the sun to resume its flight

Hearing the birds chirping familiar tunes

Feeling happy that spring will arrive soon

Stepping briskly along the charming path

Anticipating the sun bringing a warm bath

Seeing the shadows change and dance

Clearing a mind from its dormant trance

Witnessing God’s immense creation at dawn

Blessing with unique images that it spawns

Dashing in front goes a frightened rabbit

Making his morning visit a welcome habit

Dreaming of walking here each and every day

Picturing a scenic sunrise so appealing to say

Lifting above the distant horizon to bring a delight

Radiating sunrise brightens the morn with its light

The photo was taken at sunrise last fall at Walnut Woods Metro Park in central Ohio.  I am looking forward to witnessing more sunrises in the coming weeks as the spring weather allows me to walk outside more often.

Do you enjoy a favorite time or place to walk and experience God’s creation?

Robert Greene Quotes

No moment is wasted if you pay attention and learn the lessons contained in every experience.

The world wants to assign you a role in life.  And once you accept that role you are doomed.

Robert Greene (born 1959) is an American author.  He has written six international bestsellers based around the topics of strategy and power.

Sprinting to Daylight

From Psalm 97:10-11:  “You who love the Lord, hate evil; He guards the lives of His faithful; He rescues them from the hand of the wicked.  Light dawns for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart.”

Surrounding darkness

Evil’s world abounds

Life’s hesitation

Sinful, barking sounds

Playing with evil

Like kitchen’s hot stove

Waiting to burn us

Consuming faith’s grove

Hearing Father’s Word

Explicit warning

Hate evil, love God

Righteous good morning

Evil’s deception

Ignore its calling

Turning from darkness

Sinful flesh falling

Life’s new page opens

His goodness unfolds

Sprinting to daylight

Safe in God’s stronghold

From the words of  American pastor and Christian teacher, Charles Stanley:  “When we learn to hate evil, we learn to love what God loves.”

Franklin Graham Quote

We can have full confidence in God’s promises because we can have full faith in His character.

From Hebrews 10:23:  “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who has promised is faithful.”

Curious Trivial Facts (5/7)

This informative post will be posted on Saturday along with my usual writing.  We can all appreciate some of the lesser known facts from around the world.

Under NBA regulations, sneakers are the only article of clothing a player can wear that bears a commercial logo.

The phrase John Lennon can be heard saying (twice, on some recordings) at the end of “Strawberry Fields Forever”–and the phrase that many Beatles fans took to be “I buried Paul” and that helped launch the “Paul is dead” hysteria–is actually “cranberry sauce.”

These facts have been discovered in I NEVER KNEW THAT by David Hoffman (2009).

Ralph Ellison Quotes

The act of writing requires a constant plunging back into the shadow of the past where time hovers ghostlike.

Good fiction is made of that which is real, and reality is difficult to come by.

Ralph Ellison (1914-1994) was an American author who is best known for INVISIBLE MAN, which earned a National Book Award in 1953.

Oswald Chambers Quote

Paul spent himself for one purpose only–that he might win men to Jesus Christ.  Paul became a sacramental personality; wherever he went, Jesus Christ helped Himself to his life.

From 2 Corinthians 12:15:  “I will most gladly spend and be spent for You.  If I love You more, am I to be loved less?”

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was a Scottish evangelist and Christian teacher.  Following his death from an illness while in Egypt during World War I, his wife took on the task of transcribing the detailed notes she had written from his lectures and sermons.  Gertrude Hobbs Chambers’ efforts resulted in the publication in 1924 of MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST.  I frequently read from this devotional, and it has greatly deepened my faith and understanding of God’s Word.

Morning’s Disruption

Photo by Raychel Sanner on Pexels.com

Cloudy, overcast sky

Hiding morning’s sunshine

Waiting with her reply

Nature’s latest headline

Forecast calling for rain

Arriving right on time

Watering farmers’ grain

Nature’s unchanging rhyme

Lightning crackling with fire

Sparking thunderous clouds

Hearing heavenly choir

Nature’s clamorous crowds

Peace returning to earth

Singing with calm voices

Anchoring at her berth

Nature’s sun rejoices

Disruption retreating

Clearing sky welcomed back

Sketching springtime’s greeting

Nature’s morning on track
