Journey’s Final Gate

Photo by Rajeev Mog Chowdhary on Pexels.com

Peering into endless darkness

Fearing night’s disquieting steps

Hiding in wilderness shadows

Hearing distant tap at doorstep

Searching horizon, now silent

Missing gracious slice of moonlight

Looking into starless abyss

Galloping toward hidden knight

Catching glimpse of advancing dawn

Feeling comfortable with fate

Focusing on ember of light

Opening journey’s final gate

Reaching intended rendezvous

Bring peace to life’s blessed love

Sharing from adventure’s story

Finding early sunrise above

God is constantly working in our hearts and circumstances to achieve His will in our lives.

From Psalm 143:10:  “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.  Let Your good spirit lead me on a level path.”

Life’s supposed to be about making the path a little gentler for those traveling behind you.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing all the way.  Just know you’ll have to live with all the choices that you make.

Reba McEntire (born 1955) is an American country music singer and actress.  She has earned the nickname of “Queen of Country.”

If I have learned anything during my journey on Planet Earth, it is that people need one another.

From Proverbs 27:9:  “Perfume and incense make the heart glad, but the sweetness of a friend is better than one’s own counsel.”

River’s Glory

Photo by Mike van Schoonderwalt on Pexels.com

From high mountain meadow

River begins fateful trip

One mile follows another

Flowing at steady clip

Creator’s light precedes

Clear path to river’s glory

Journey shaping each landscape

Scripting nature’s story

Time shall never stand still

River’s persistence will win

Always forward to its goal

Streaming patience within

Day will come, very soon

River sets up final score

Faithful waters running free

Asking for nothing more

Ocean’s waters ahead

Finish line in river’s sight

Peace traveling through its pulse

Pulling eternal might

Lessons of Faith

From John 17:25-26:  “Righteous Father, the world does not know You, but I know You, and these know that You have sent Me.  I made Your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them and I in them.”

With every waking hour

Reading from faith’s Good Book

Guided by Jesus Christ

Spirit waits by quiet brook

Righteous steps lead to God

Praying for mercy’s light

Gathered by Jesus Christ

Faith growing, now taking flight

Journey of faith goes forth

Approaching grace-filled curve

Propelled by Jesus Christ

Goodness awaits those who serve

Endless lessons of faith

Teaching fills precious space

Mentored by Jesus Christ

Hope speaks, “Let’s finish this race”

Given tasks to complete

Hearing One lasting voice

Promised by Jesus Christ

Faith always trusting His choice

From 1 Corinthians 9:24:  “Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize?  Run in such a way that you may win it.”

God’s desire is that we grow in faith as we walk with Him.  Faith is not merely a one-time event through which we were saved; rather, it’s a continuous way of life from the point of salvation forward.

From 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4:  “We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.  Therefore we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith during all your persecutions and the afflictions that you are enduring.”

Monday Memories: Journey to Jerusalem

From John 10:9-10:  “I am the gate.  Whoever enters by Me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy,  I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

Triumphantly

Jesus enters a joyous city

Jerusalem sings

Praising His name . . . Hosanna!

Witnessing

Emotional betrayal

Denying Christ

Then a rooster crows

Watching

Stunning procession fills the streets

Mocking with scorn

Would-be king, carrying our Cross

Hopes

Dashed by cruel Roman justice

Absent of sin

Son of Man, never to walk free

Numbness

With tears, seeing and hearing

Experiencing anguish

Horror at a blood-stained Cross

Silence

Covering the land, Father weeps

Messiah suffers

Many rejecting our Holy God

Hearing

Good News on Easter morning

Our Savior

Defeating sin and death

Empty

Dark tomb proclaims God’s plan

Jesus Christ

Risen!  Reigning forevermore

Connecting

Dots between manger and Cross

Our Father

Love for us never wanes

Lingering

In the shadow of a criminal’s cross

Singing Alleluia!

To lasting, true meaning of the Cross

Glory

Residing forever in the Cross

Caring for His precious flock

From Ephesians 2:8-10:  “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God–not the result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are what He has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.”

Day After Day

From Psalm 17:5:  “My steps have held fast to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.”

Photo by Olanma Etigwe-uwa on Pexels.com

Day after day

Another journey waits

Absorbing Savior’s Word

Keeping our righteous path straight

Day after day

Enemy surrounds thee

Witnessing Savior’s love

Grasping His truth, always free

Day after day

Darkness shames life of sin

Rising, Savior confronts

Locking faith’s righteous linchpin

Day after day

Blindness in faith creeps in

Praying for Savior’s grace

Casting His light from within

Day after day

Hope finds security

Blessing from Savior’s heart

Bestowing His purity
