The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.

From Colossians 3:12-13:  “As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.  Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Spring Calls

Winter’s snow blankets central Ohio’s Walnut Woods Metro Park.

Winds no longer blow

From cold Arctic ice

Snow stays far to north

Winter pays her price

Days growing longer

Nature now smiling

Winter’s time shall pass

Spring begins dialing

Nature’s busy tone

Some days, springtime halts

Hibernation plays

Winter’s final waltz

Trees wait with patience

Soon nature will green

Sun replacing clouds

Spring’s finest cuisine

Seasons come and go

Nature makes her call

Time for winter’s end

Spring’s voice now enthralls

Early spring flowers brighten the landscape at central Ohio’s Chestnut Ridge Metro Park.

Just in Case

From James 4:6:  “But He gives all the more grace; therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'”

Our Creator’s divine plan

Offers fullest, living grace

Giving patience, just in case

When running life’s anxious race

Our Lord shares forgiveness

Relationships need healing

Forgiving sin, just in case

When each day seems freewheeling

Heaven’s Father, sharing peace

Imperfect lives needing change

Trimming each branch, just in case

When roaming lost on God’s range

God shares His timely wisdom

From Heaven, He sees us fall

Touching our hand, just in case

When we need His hope-filled call

From John 15:1-2:  “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower.  He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit.  Every branch that bears fruit He prunes to make it bear more fruit.”

Horace Bushnell Quote

The greatest and sublimest power is often simple patience.

From 1 Thessalonians 5:14:  “And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”

Waiting with Patience

From Isaiah 64:4:  “From ages past no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who works for those who wait for Him.”

Facing life’s dark, endless afflictions

Waiting with patience and new hope

Turning to our Holy, mighty Lord

Reaching for the Spirit’s steady rope

Seeking maturity and insight

Receiving God’s plan, sacred foresight

Witnessing our Father’s faithfulness

Flowing as a gentle river, His love

Nourishing hungry souls from His Word

Touching us, Holiness from above

Continuing to teach, God reaches out

Instilling our confidence, let’s shout

Waiting with patience for our Father

Sending His goodness to those who seek

Filling compassion with steadfast love

Offering Salvation, mercy speaks

Trusting God’s divine wisdom each day

Following His Word, showing the way

From the words of American pastor and Christian teacher, Charles Stanley:  “Waiting isn’t easy, but rushing ahead of the Lord can short-circuit His plan.  Be patient while God works out the details.”

Cleansing Rain

Photo by VisionPic .net on Pexels.com

Autumn rains lasting for days

Covering the land with mist

Cleansing under cloudy haze

Rising pollen, now dismissed

Harvest pausing, farmers wait

Parking soybeans, left to take

Drying cornstalks, know their fate

Standing ready, combines brake

Creeks filling, slowly at first

Running water, sent ahead

Suspending reservoirs’ thirst

Pausing for now, winter’s dread

Nature’s perfect cycle breathes

Singing praises to the Lord

Watching as autumn unsheathes

Waking when spring comes aboard
