John Maxwell Quote

I’ve found that the worst thing I can do when it comes to any kind of potential pressure situation is to put off dealing with it.

From Psalm 34:4-5:  “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.  Look to him, and be radiant, so your faces shall never be ashamed.”

John Maxwell (born 1947) is an American pastor, author, and speaker.  He has written numerous books about leadership, with a Christian point of view.

You must always be prepared to place a bet on yourself, on your future, by heading in a direction that others seem to fear.

Understand:  you are one of a kind.  Your character traits are a kind of chemical mix that will never be repeated in history.

Robert Greene (born 1959) is an American author.  He has written six international bestsellers based around the topics of strategy and power.

Heartbreaking Worry

From Joshua 1:9:  “I hereby command you:  Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Man’s human nature

Wrestling with new fears

Breathing with unease

Darkening frontiers

Fear all consuming

Racing with flurry

Suffocating breath

Heartbreaking worry

Root of lasting doubt

Distrusting our God

Overlooking grace

Hiding, sin’s facade

Strength walks with courage

Turning to God’s Word

Following His law

Trusting faith’s watchword

Scripture holding fast

Anchoring with peace

Receiving Lord’s love

Blessing life’s new lease

Christ’s moral compass

Shepherding with grace

Walking in His trust

Slowing down life’s race

From the words of American pastor and Christian teacher, Charles Stanley:  “To conquer our fears, we should identify them but then focus instead of God and Scripture.”

Life’s Paradox

Photo by eberhard grossgasteiger on Pexels.com

Life consumes ups and downs

Warm smiles give way to frowns

One moment pours with joy

Another will annoy

Mountaintop songs swell hearts

Dark valleys tear apart

Tonight’s thunderstorms boom

Tomorrow catches gloom

Miles bridge life’s paradox

Some shine, others break glass

Life’s cycle never halts

Dancing to steady waltz

Time takes different road

Living by rhythmic code

Expectations grin back

Days no longer look black

Morning rain shares rainbow

Outlook blossoms and glows

Love filling empty hearts

Today brings fresh restart

Hourglass never drains out

Happiness transforms drought

Life consumes ups and downs

Now sowing fertile grounds

Conquering Fears

From 1 John 4:17-19:  “Love has been perfected among us in this:  that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.  We love because he first loved us.”

Bringing anxiety

Life’s darkness encroaches

Where can we always turn?

Father’s light approaches

Bitten by sinful grief

Burdened at life’s abyss

Time to admit these fears

Seeking truth to dismiss

Frightened by life’s trials

Being honest with self

True feelings now exposed

Finding Bible on shelf

Coming to our Father

Reaching out to His hand

Time now spent in prayer

God’s Word faithfully stands

God’s hand vanquishes fears

Lasting comfort and peace

Heavenly rod and staff

Salvation, life’s new lease

Father’s infinite love

Grace casting out these fears

Supportive hand and Word

Conquering fear-filled tears

From the words of American pastor and Christian teacher, Charles Stanley:  “When fear begins to sink in, I pray harder, study longer, and read my Bible more closely.  God wants to cast out the fear and doubt in your life.”

Calming Our Fears

From the words of Dr. Martin Luther King:  “Courage faces fear and thereby masters it.  Cowardice represses fear and is thereby mastered by it.”

Worry arrives with concerns never to come

Building upon past fears, stoking future ones

Life’s landscape fills with looming mountains

Instead of gentle molehills, fear gathers and stuns

Concerns about future challenges come forth

Transforming into worries, fueling more fear

Darkest clouds come together and gather

Who will grab the wheel and start to steer?

Waiting for our Lord, He renews our strength

Living by faith, His Word restores our soul

Rejoicing in hope, patient in suffering

Renewed by the Spirit, we feel more whole

God always walks with us, seek Him in prayer

Darkest valleys ahead, His love casts out fears

With compassion for our sufferings, hear His Word

Comforted by His rod and staff, God never veers

Asking of our Father, seeking His counsel

Bringing clearer witness, through His precise scope

His guidance renews our hearts, calming fears

His wisdom touches minds, filled with Gospel hope

From Mark 5:35-36:  “While He was still speaking, some people came from the leader’s house to say, ‘Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?’  But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, ‘Do not fear, only believe.'”
