Behold Our Creator

From John 1.1:  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Before earth ever existed, God was here

There is only one God, He has no peers

Out of nothing— absolute darkness, vacant, and cold

God reaches out with His Word, astounding and bold

Remaining distinct from His eternal creation

God’s handiwork brings proud, lasting elation

God constructs with a purpose, the Heavens declare

His glory reveals absolute knowledge, nothing spared

Our sovereign, Holy God creates it all

Later, man will take a backwards fall

Creation arrives through God’s Holy prose

“Let there be”—He continues to propose

The Holy Trinity, God declares as Three in One

Faithful spirit sits beside God’s redeeming Son

Designing visible and invisible, God reigns here

The heavens and earth watch as God stays near

Working for six days, all appears good, very good

God feels proud of what He’s done, and He should

Following His purpose, His knowledge leads the way

The Glory of God creates with a Holy plan each day

God stands as author, at the center of reality

Without God, chaotic darkness makes a place

God’s people enjoy a bursting, creative taste

Worshipping God’s creation for all of eternity

From pastor John Piper:  “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”

Monday Memories: Untamed Mustang

Here is the updated and edited poem, originally written in October, 2018, during the very first month of Big Sky Buckeye’s blog.  While I have never owned a Mustang, I enjoyed the pleasure of driving one as a rental car a few years ago.

Montana 2016 144.JPG

The Ford Mustang is a classic, matchless car

It is well-known around the world near and far

Designed with a fleet, sleek, and distinctive frame

Its final destiny will be to drive to the Hall of Fame

The ’65 convertible is a huge favorite of mine

It fills my special memories from time to time

Lee Iococca is the inspiration behind its creation

His pony car creates a newly crowned sensation

Collectors love this car with its vintage look

For many drivers enjoy the swiftness it took

Midnight blue, ruby red, and powerful black

Identify but a few of its sporty colors to track

Chevy produces the Camaro to challenge Ford’s power

Only to see the Mustang make a major film that towers

Steve McQueen drives his ’68 Bullitt in a famous chase

The spectacular scenes tantalize many fans with a taste

Endless generations worship this untamed beast

Driving the Mustang is sure to be a fulfilling feast

Redeeming Hope

From 2 Peter 3:8-10, 13:  “But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.  The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and everything that is done will be disclosed.  But, in accordance with His promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home.”

Bringing hope to Abraham to witness and see

Blessings arrive from His Holy Father above

Abraham’s hopes soaking up spirit, only for thee

“So numerous shall your descendants be” with love

Rejoicing in hope, while persevering in prayer

Marks of a true Christian, travel through hope

Being patient with suffering, God does care

Allowing His Word to appear on our radar scope

Christ’s Resurrection delivers hope, so rich

Without hope, all feeling shamed and pitied

Setting our hope on Christ, forever a cinch

Living for Christ’s Glory, every town and city

All called to Christ, as the early Christians were

Teaching from the Apostles, encouraging our faith

We are all gathered by Christ, this is for sure

Inheriting a glorious-filled hope, step up to taste

Remaining forever steadfast in faith and love

Hope travels by way of Jesus Christ’s Salvation

Accepting Jesus as Savior, He reigns from above

The hope of His glory, will be our eternal station

With unwavering hope, encourage one another

Delivering a Resurrection, a living hope awaits

God is pure, Christ is pure—like none other

Hoping in Christ; enriching, enduring faith

Hope and joy will witness Christ’s coming

A cunning Satan cannot block the way

Waiting with hope, the angels drumming

Christ’s final promise will come some day

Life staying simple each day

Small children learning, God’s way

Like a skilled potter’s clay

Growing up in amazing ways

Lives filling with unique freshness

Creating moments of tender newness

Parents providing support and love

Following God’s example, from above

God watching His only Son

Caring for His little One

Pure gentleness touching with kindness

Lighting the way with fondness

Each moment charging with adventure

Experiencing delightful walks with nature

Little things appearing awfully big

Playing, sandbox shovels seriously dig

Miniature cars creating a parade

Playing with confidence, never afraid

Small puzzles offering a challenge

Showing off a newfound talent

Pictures take-off, ready to fly

Finding a favorite book nearby

Caring sister, like none other

Loving Bubba, her big brother

Baby starting out, lovingly cute

Playing music, like a flute

A toddler replacing the baby

Bringing out endless energy, daily

Parents watching with loving smiles

Thankful for every precious mile

Choose His Path

photography of mountains under cloudy sky

Photo by Simon Matzinger on Pexels.com

We have a clear path to choose

Anything else, we definitely lose

A godless enemy brings emptiness

He prowls and waits, eager to strike

His path only leads to unhappiness

Our lives feel like a bursting dike

We see the good life in front of us

But the light comes with false hopes

Glamour and riches without the fuss

Darkness clouds over life’s periscope

Gloomy doom brings promises, so empty

A champion bears our guilt and shame

There is a better way, filled with plenty

Life truly means more than just a game

The Light of Salvation chases away the dark

Christ bears our wounds at a bloody cross

The enemy slithers away, gone is his spark

Jesus’ Holy righteousness reaches across

Our loving Father sacrifices His only Son

His shed blood atones for our sinful ways

An empty tomb declares, Christ has won

Accept me and follow, He proudly says

We have a clear path to choose

Anything else, we definitely lose

Monday Memories: Loving Duo

This poem was published in December, 2018.  The two dogs were part of a family for many years, and their passing just weeks apart made for a  difficult time to deal with.  I was blessed to know this loving duo, and this poem was written as a tribute to them.

Scooter and Sydney become life-long best friends

A collie and a beagle loving each other to the end

Scooter is a handsome male, steady as he goes

Sydney is a beautiful female, smiling with a glow

Scooter stands steady and reliable as anyone can see

Sydney fills time with energy and spirit like a busy bee

Scooter enjoys taking long naps by a window in the sun

Sydney would rather discover a backyard path for fun

Scooter shows off a well-mannered and warm deposition

Sydney’s sneaky behavior may put her in a bad position

Scooter savors his food ever so slowly—never in a hurry!

Sydney devours hers ever so quickly—always in a flurry!

Scooter never becomes too excited on any given day

Sydney feels hyper and animated with plenty of play

Scooter manages to keep his life always quiet and neat

Sydney steals Scooter’s food—being so sly and sweet!

Both dogs make each other’s life first-class and real

Each leaves many memories filled with extra appeal
