Mountain Retreat

Photo by Adam Krypel on Pexels.com

Waking from short overnight nap

Mind navigating through dense fog

Seeing Venus, shining above

Campfire went out, hearing bullfrogs

Experiencing nature’s gifts

From this lofty mountain retreat

Rubbing shoulders with Creator

Simple life, better than Main Street

Viewing twinkling lights down below

Village sound asleep, missing this

Flickering campfire heats coffee

Tranquility Base, full of bliss

Cooking up heartiest breakfast

There’s plenty for both me and you

Inviting Christ to take His seat

Mountain retreat, feeling brand-new

Breathing in nature’s harmony

Alone, never feeling that way

Taking in this heavenly scene

Lord, please allow this hour to stay

Monday Memories: Experiencing Contentment

Photo by Marina Abrosimova on Pexels.com

Encourage others as God encourages each of us

Be forgiving toward others, adding to life’s plus

Give thanks for all of Father’s grace

Be His prayer warrior at every place

Allow Christ to shine through in all we do

Be filled with the Spirit, faithful and true

Hold dear to our hearts, all that is good

Be thankful to God, as we always should

Fiery ordeals and daily trials will always challenge all

Be an eyewitness to Christ’s sufferings, never to fall

God is sovereign and forever in control of it all

Be aware, all things work together, forever tall

When God’s glory is finally revealed on that day

Be shouting with amazing grace, sing as we may

We bring nothing into this world we live

Be content with little, the rest God gives

The love of money brings evil times

Be taking nothing, not even a dime

Bring together godliness with contentment

Be willing to follow every Commandment

Despite our weaknesses, Christ dwells within thee

Be content with calamities and hardships we see

God’s Grace is sufficient for everyone

Be thankful for the sacrifice of His Son

Christ resides in our hearts, He yearns to save

Be strengthened with blood and body He gave

Always rely on God’s strength and mighty clout

Be content, following His Word, never in doubt

Love of Christ surpasses all that we ever see

Be grateful and shower blessings, take a knee

Monday Memories: Everlasting Road

I am a solitary man traveling on an empty road

My life journey’s been an awfully heavy load

I yearn to walk a few more miles by the end of this day

My battered and worn shoes have so very much to say

I survive by myself after all of these long years

My past is filled with disappointments and tears

I have met few along this road who even say “hello”

My disheveled appearance keeps eyes looking low

I look ahead to what this day will offer to me

My weakened eyes make it challenging to see

I would welcome a hot meal and a warm shower

My bag of jerky will need to nourish for hours

I feel my energy running low on fuel just the same

My mind tries to stay alert as if playing a new game

I wish to stop by this large sycamore tree

My eyes can rest under its shade for free

I will rest and relax in peace along this quiet road

My journey will soon be finished, yet I never slowed

I will continue my peaceful trek down a lonesome route

My days are numbered, but I remain strong and stout

I am ready to meet my Lord on His righteous terms

His everlasting spirit brings much for me to affirm

Tim Tebow Quotes

The greatest way to witness is by walking that straight and narrow and also realizing that you’re going to mess up.  That’s what grace is for.

In those places of doubt and even darkness I’ve realized that who I am has nothing to do with wins or loses, applause, or negative criticism.  It has to do with whose I am.

Single Timeless Moment

From Psalm 90:1-2:  “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

From Genesis 9:11-13:  “‘I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.’  God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:  I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.'”

Buried Faith

From the words of American pastor and Christian author, A. W. Tozer:  “Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God.”

Photo by Brady Knoll on Pexels.com

Winter’s lost, snow-covered faith

Father’s presence, long frozen

Buried faith, under deep drifts

Lack of any hope, blows in

Christ melts each frozen glacier

Ice turns to living water

Holy Spirit flows with hope

God’s Word molds, as faith’s potter

Spring arrives, God’s Holy love

Maturing into life’s fruit

Flowering trees, witness faith

Hope emerging, each new shoot

Resurrection brings new life

Hungry faith springs with fresh growth

Spirit warms forgotten hearts

Faith then hope, Christ unearths both

From Proverbs 3:3-4:  “Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.”

Lord of Glory

From Isaiah 6:3:  “And one called to another and said:  ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.'”

Darkness, evil abound

Our Champion arrives

Freeing chained hearts with praise

Faith growing in our lives

Graced by shed blood of Christ

Facing every hour

Wisdom, courage unite

Strongest bonds of power

Standing as God’s people

Walking as peacemakers

Sowing seeds from His faith

Harvest Glory’s acres

Christ’s journey lights His way

Centered on His people

Calling us, step forward

Blessed Cross, our steeple

Jesus’ pierced hands of change

Steady feet meet life’s quest

Lasting voice for justice

Renewing lives, each test

Glory fills God’s Kingdom

From His Heaven above

Nothing stops living grace

Salvation’s gift, free love

Sharing Some Kindness

From Galatians 5:22-25:  “By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against such things.  And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.   If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.”

Seeing mankind standing along the road

Bearing heavy burdens, life’s overload

Stopping to say, travel the other way

Sharing some kindness, from our Lord today

Shining Jesus’ light, for all to follow

Hearing His Word, rich wisdom to swallow

Overlooking life’s narrow-minded walk

Sharing some kindness, truth becomes our rock

Lending helping hands, sisters and brothers

Showering daily grace, like none other

Forsaking life’s blindness, opening eyes

Sharing some kindness, never in disguise

Helping others who travel beside us

Inviting them, catching rides on God’s bus

Loving with patience, goodwill overflows

Sharing some kindness, warming hearts aglow

Recalling Christ’s call, handing out His love

Sharing His mercy, planted from above

Paying it forward, kindness shared each day

Harvesting endless treasures from God’s way

This poem is inspired by singer Glen Campbell’s classic tune, “Try a Little Kindness.”  Here is one of his renditions of this remarkable song.  Pay it forward, show the world some kindness.

Fear Not

From Matthew 14:22-24: “Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds. And after He had dismissed the crowds, He went up the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them.”

Life’s storms intensify

Overcoming with fear

Facing each hostile sea

Darkness, nothing seems clear

Spiritual squalls come

Turning world upside down

Battered by strongest gales

Fearing each wave’s knockdown

Christ’s love intercedes

Praying hands, clay’s potter

Mountains to heavens

Walking on calm water

Jesus never leaves us

Storms quietly subside

His blessed protection

Lasting, sovereign guide

Fear not, faith’s spark ablaze

Christ’s true light boldly seeds

Following Son of God

Hope ripens from His deeds

From Matthew 14:25-27:  “And early in the morning He came walking toward them on the sea.  But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, ‘It is a ghost!’  And they cried out in fear.  But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, ‘Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.'”
