The hymn “When Peace, Like a River” inspired the writing of this poem. The lyrics were written by Horatio Gates Spafford in 1873. The song is sometimes titled from a line in the popular refrain, “It Is Well With My Soul.”
Our hope reaps the harvest of our faith. Our faith is nourished from redemption found on a blood-stained cross. Our salvation is sown with God’s love.

Mark it down, things do not “just happen.” Ours is not a random, whistle-in-the-dark universe. The God who loves us and redeemed us . . . is there, and He is not silent.
