Traveling Faith’s Avenue

From Romans 12:2:  “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Choosing to align our thoughts with God’s Word will move us toward the abundant life our Creator designed.

From 1 Corinthians 2:15-16:  “Those who are spiritual discern all things, and they are themselves subject to no one else’s scrutiny.  For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct Him?’  But we have the mind of Christ.”

Kevin Hart Quotes

Photo by Vlad Vasnetsov on Pexels.com

I don’t look at obstacles as obstacles.  I look at them as things that were put there for a reason.

Being humble matters.

Kevin Hart (born 1979) is an American comedian and actor.  He identifies himself as a Christian and opening talks about his faith.

Monday Memories: Seeking God’s Wisdom

The text used for this poem is based upon Proverbs Chapter 10, with the 10th verse taking center stage:  “The wise lay up knowledge, but the babbling of a fool brings ruin.”

Seeks God’s wisdom

His words bring wealth

A benevolent father

Welcomes a wise child

Virtue always delivers

Never going hungry

The judicious of heart

Follows the Commandments

Always walks in integrity

Makes for a secure life

Boldly calls out trouble

Brings peace to life

Use righteous words

Builds a fountain of life

Hate stirs up trouble

Love heals our offenses

Craves absorbing wisdom

Ignores a blathering fool

Leads an honorable life

Shuns sinful behaviors

Be prudent when speaking

Uses a blameless tongue

Seeks the Lord’s blessings

Comes in reverent prayer

Follows our heavenly Father

His stronghold protects us

Our own knowledge seems inadequate at times.  Only by accepting the Lord’s wisdom will His navigation carry us through.

Oswald Chambers Quote

Every time we have gone back in spiritual communion it has been because we have impertinently known better than Jesus Christ.  We have allowed the cares of the world to come in, and have forgotten the “much more” of our Heavenly Father.

From Matthew 6:30:  “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was a Scottish evangelist and Christian teacher.  Following his death from an illness while in Egypt during World War I, his wife took on the task of transcribing the detailed notes she had written from his lectures and sermons.  Gertrude Hobbs Chambers’ efforts resulted in the publication in 1924 of MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST.  I frequently read from this devotional, and it has greatly deepened my faith and understanding of God’s Word.

Facing Another Hour

From Colossians 3:2:  “Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.”

Photo by Stas Knop on Pexels.com

Temptations swirl all around

Feeling peace turning sour

Life spinning out of control

Facing another hour

Distractions overwhelm hopes

Setting each one aside

Wisdom’s courage reaches out

Becoming journey’s guide

Darkness fading before Light

Seeing evil no more

Character nurtured with grace

Aiming for heaven’s shore

Blessings from Father above

Warming each heart with praise

Courage flowing from wisdom

Lasting spirit ablaze

From the words of British writer and lay theologian, C. S. Lewis:  “Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in; aim at earth and you get neither.”
