Father’s mercy offers hand

Overcoming each challenge

Solid ground covers sinking sand

Trusting path of wisdom’s light

Father’s Word guides each step

Escaping evil’s darkness

Destined for Calvary’s doorstep

Looking back at long journey

Father’s love fills wayward heart

Trading pride with humbleness

Hope renewing from faith’s restart

Embracing His proven ways

Father’s grace shining ahead

Resisting darkest shadows

Filled with Son’s everlasting bread

Blessing Savior’s righteous road

Father’s sovereignty leads

Offering bridge to follow

Blood of Christ saves each tender reed

How wonderful that God personally cares about those things that worry us and prey upon our thoughts. Not a single nagging, aching, worrisome, stomach-tensing, blood-pressure-raising thought escapes His notice.

It is very easy to overestimate the importance of our own achievements in comparison with what we owe others.

From 1 Peter 5:5-6: “And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time.”

German-born Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was a Lutheran pastor, theologian, and anti-Nazi dissident. Many of his writings express the role of Christianity in mankind’s daily lives. He paid the ultimate price for his activism against the Nazi regime during World War II.

George Whitefield (1714-1770) was an English-born pastor and Christian evangelist. He spent the second half of his life in the American colonies.
