Innocent Dreams

Photo by Tom Fisk on Pexels.com

Sleeping beneath midnight stars

Dreaming of faraway lands

Tracing desktop’s spinning globe

Traveling with comfort’s hands

Searching for bold adventures

Filling imagination

Revolving world comes to rest

Discovering location

Boarding fastest clipper ship

Setting sail, freedom ahead

Lighting up destiny’s route

Leaving comfortable bed

Traversing treacherous seas

Sailing toward setting sun

Scanning distant horizon

Anticipating more fun

Pulsating alarm intrudes

Crashing through innocent dreams

Waking for Monday’s school day

Leaving journey in midstream

A poet’s own travels with words and their imagery makes for an amazing trip, filled with countless destinations.

Amy Weatherly Quotes

Good friendships take intentionality; you can’t ignore them and expect them to be healthy.

If you’re always too busy for your friends, you will have shallow friendships.

Amy Weatherly is an American author who remains active with writing and her down-to-earth blog (amyweatherly.com).

Choosing God’s Love

From 1 John 4:15-16:  “God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God.  So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.  God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.”

Earth filled with darkness

Hate crosses another street

Enemy’s hand at work

Peace surrenders its fleet

World aching for change

Grace knocking on every door

Chains of evil loosen

Love coming ashore

God holds righteous reins

Providence surges ahead

Muscles ready to flex

Born in Bethlehem shed

Hope now awakens

Messiah’s light enters in

Choice now offered to all

Love strengthens faith’s linchpin

Darkness and hate flee

Forgiven, choosing God’s love

Mercy stirs with kindness

Witnessed from high above

While human love tries to capture the perfection found in God’s love, we will always fumble our imperfect love.  With His grace, we will be able to recover what seemed to have been lost.

Charles Swindoll Quote

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

To be humble in heart . . . is to be submissive to the core.  It involves being more interested in serving the needs of others than in having one’s own needs met.

From Philippians 2:3-4:  “Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.  Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others.”

Rosalynn Carter Quotes

Photo by Ketut Subiyanto on Pexels.com

A leader takes people where they want to go.  A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.

If you doubt you can accomplish something, then you can’t accomplish it.  You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through.

Rosalynn Carter (1927-2023) served as First Lady during her husband’s term of office as American President (1977-1981).  Involved with many accomplishments, she and Jimmy Carter were lifetime partners.  She was a devoted and tireless advocate for greater awareness of mental health and other humanitarian causes.

Monday Memories: Father’s Identity

Beautiful melodies

Cellos and violins

Stirring memories

New lives, set to begin

Father with daughters

Growing up with each one

Precious treasures to bless

Through Father, Holy Son

Music playing, forevermore

Images of each step

Laughter filling their rooms

Love knocks at our doorstep

Afternoon tea parties

Playing games, singing songs

Favorite storybooks

Life perfect, never wrong

Seeing their eager eyes

Savoring school’s first day

Playing in autumn’s leaves

Days never seem too gray

Watching each girl mature

Life’s incredible ride

Graduation moments

Wedding days at their side

Playing in the background

Peaceful serenity

Past, special moments

Father’s identity

My life has been blessed with a splendid and loving trio of daughters who have made fatherhood a true blessing.  I was listening to a rendition of Johann Pachelbel’s “Canon in D Major” as I wrote this poem.  I especially enjoy strings or piano (all three of my daughters are accomplished piano players).  Here is a sample of the music.  Enjoy!
