Whispering Tree

Whispering tree

Spring renews season’s lease

Building each leaf

Observing landscape’s peace

Praising blue skies

Creator shares His love

Holding time still

Sharing daylight above

Warming ground swells

Spring arrives to embrace

Stirring with life

Breathing with nature’s grace

Connecting hope

Creator at doorstep

Refreshing trust

Lighting journey’s small steps

Exhaling joy

Spring follows daily plan

Writing each page

Lifting spirits of man

Uplifting love

Creator’s whispers spun

Setting table

Rising with morning’s sun

Destination of Peace

From Exodus 17:1-2:  “The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded.  They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.  So they quarreled with Moses and said, ‘Give us water to drink.'”

Surrounded by wilderness

God’s people seek hope’s waters

Responding with His goodness

Thirst quenched in sons and daughters

Shepherd’s eternal presence

His flock never left alone

Lifting eyes toward heavens

Trust in God, faith’s fabric sewn

Sinful stones must be softened

Hunger lingers tomorrow

Calling all to repentance

Mercy’s waters always flow

God ignites fire of judgment

Faith’s journey seeks lighted way

Praying for obedience

Wayward steps find grace this day

Wilderness tests man’s resolve

Enemy’s darkest shadows

Following Christ, our Savior

Destination of peace glows

From Psalm 95:6-7:  “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.”

Childhood Interactions (Haiku #368)

Delicious Memories

Postponed adventures

Rushing to Mother’s kitchen—

Freshly baked cookies

Soothing Presence

Child protests bedtime

“Gonna stay up all night long”

Stardust dreams fly in

Change Anticipated

Springtime approaching

Arriving any day now—

Playfulness rising

Monday Memories: Marked by God

From Romans 12:1-2:  “I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

True Christians, marked by God

Born again, in Jesus Christ

Love always be genuine

Grasping all of life’s goodwill

Forsaking evil’s shadows

God’s presence never stands still

Cherishing one another

Actions bring honor to all

Serving Heavenly Father

Holy Spirit’s blessings call

Rejoicing, tomorrow’s hope

Enduring patience, breathing

Persevering in prayer

Christ builds durable sheathing

Assisting with others’ needs

Sharing kindness with many

Walk as brothers and sisters

Heaven’s home offers plenty

Stay noble, take life’s high road

Hungry rivals, feed with love

Live as one, in harmony

Good News comes from God above

From Romans 12:19-21:  “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’  No, ‘if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.’  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

His Perfect Time

From the words of American Christian author, Kay Arthur:  Your times are in His hands.  He’s in charge of the timetable, so wait patiently.

Quiet morning descends

Finding hope in rising sun

Filling each breath with His love

Christ’s mission shall be done

Mercy strengthens each heart

Knowing His love offers peace

Walking toward Calvary

Christ’s light shall never cease

Patience found in spirit

Waiting for His perfect time

Drawing love from trusted well

Christ’s truth must always climb

Death to sinful nature

Leaving darkness, love sings out

Seeing salvation in heavens

Christ’s now commanding route

Joy’s eager voice shares praise

Accepting love’s gift of grace

Special Guest Post: I Can Call You Lord

Photo by Grzegorz Su0119kulski on Pexels.com

This world possessed me.

It tried to keep me from Your light.

And all the time, life seemed to rhyme.

Sometimes, it even turned out right.

Still, my life was dark as night!

Even then,

I felt You there.

I knew You always cared.

Your pow’r was greater,

than this world’s strongest hold on me.

You sent Your Son to be the One

to bleed and die on Calvary.

Now, new daylight sets me free.

Evermore,

my Savior lives.

His strength He always gives.

So . . .

Jesus, my Lord Jesus,

now, I can call You Lord.

By Your Holy Spirit’s pow’r,

and by Your precious love each hour,

I’ve giv’n my heart to You.

Jesus, my Lord Jesus,

Yes, I can call You Lord.

By You bearing all my shame,

and by Your precious, holy name,

I’ve put my trust in You.

Jesus, my Lord Jesus,

yes, I can call You Lord.

Jesus, my Lord Jesus,

yes, I will call You Lord!

Today’s Christian poem is one of several contained in BITS ‘N’ PIECES OF MY HEART.  The proud author is my wife, Colleen Peterson.

From her own words:

BITS ‘N’ PIECES OF MY HEART contains stories, devotions and poetry for the adults, activities to do with your children, and fun little songs.  The devotions and poetry will strongly open up your faith walk to more of God’s light.  Doing the fun activities and singing little songs with your children will bring smiles to everyone’s heart.

Colleen appreciates the kind reception her book has received.  It is available on your favorite online bookstore site.

Forgiving Light

From John 3:16-17:  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.  Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”

Every iniquity paid

From John 3:19-21:  “And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.  For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed.  But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”
