As Americans, may we continue to see our precious flag as a testament to the collective goodness which has created and preserved this nation.

Abraham Lincoln Quotes

I have never had a feeling politically that did not spring from the sentiments embodied in the Declaration of Independence.  (Speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1861, as Lincoln’s train made a scheduled stop while traveling to Washington, DC for his Inauguration)

This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.  (Final words of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, given on November 19, 1863, when he spoke during the commemoration of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania)

Father’s Gift

From Psalm 118:24:  “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Each morning sunrise

Father’s gift to thee

Heaven’s brilliant skies

Mercy offers free

Coffee friends meeting

Father gathers all

Grace pours out greetings

Kindness fills each y’all

Kitchen’s window view

Father sharing peace

Each tender fescue

Life’s renewing lease

From each faithful seed

Father’s blessed prize

Harvest’s bounty feeds

Thoughts forever wise

Day’s fading sunset

Father always here

Night’s trusted cornet

Rhythm always clear

From Psalm 42:8:  “By day the Lord commands His steadfast love, and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.”

Prayer opens each heart to better receive God’s future gifts.  He teaches us patience while we sometimes need to wait.

Fanny Crosby Quote

Photo by Brett Jordan on Pexels.com

Kindness in this world will do much to help others, not only to come into the light, but also to grow in grace day by day.

From Colossians 1:5-6:  “Because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, you have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth, the gospel that has come to you.  Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and truly comprehended the grace of God.”

Fanny Crosby (1820-1915) was an American mission worker, poet, lyricist, and composer.  Her prolific creation of hymns and gospel songs produced over 8,000 finished works.

With each falling leaf, God reminds us to look deeper into the narrative of autumn.

Marie Curie Quotes

Photo by Kindel Media on Pexels.com

Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas.

Life is not easy for any of us.  But what of that?  We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves.

Marie Curie (1867-1934) was Polish-born and later became a naturalized French citizen.  As a physicist and chemist, her pioneering research in the field of radioactivity led to the discovery of the element of radium.

Monday Memories: Serenity’s Rain

Witnessing an early morning rain inspires the visions for this poem.  It is amazing how a view through an open window can bring forth images to write from.

Replenishing parched, barren land

Serenity’s rain, from God’s hand

Quenching desert’s eternal thirst

Nature smiling, joy now disbursed

Nourishing life with loving pride

Flora and fauna, at God’s side

Touching each leaf, stems from God’s love

Hues of green, colored from above

Singing with praise, birds bless this scene

Creation glowing, dazzling sheen

Sharing splendor, feeling at peace

Morning rain, grants life a new lease

Listening closely, hearing now

God’s serenity, takes a bow
