Ralph Waldo Emerson Quotes

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) was an American essayist, poet, and philosopher.  He was a leading voice in America’s transcendentalist movement in the 19th century.

Father’s Voice

From John 14:23-24:  “Jesus answered him, ‘Those who love me will keep My word, and My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.  Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words, and the word that you hear is not Mine but is from the Father who sent Me.”

Called to daily worship

Time spent with Father’s Word

Sharing insight about life

His light no longer blurred

Worry replaced by faith

Closeness to Father’s voice

Praising every morning’s peace

His grace offers thee choice

Earthly things mean little

Truth found in Father’s Word

Seeking treasure in Heaven

His mercy freshly stirred

Wisdom gains its foothold

Nourished from Father’s voice

Understanding life’s purpose

His promises rejoice

From Psalm 18:13:  “The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered His voice.”

Seeking Direction

From James 1:5:  “ If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.”

Life’s distant horizon

Questions sometimes remain

Seeking direction from God

His Word opens wisdom’s lane

Tomorrow’s shadows wait

Doubts filling empty heart

Nourishing grace sustains faith

God’s wisdom offers fresh start

From waves of churning seas

Promised answers shall rise

Embracing God’s blessed love

Wisdom colors daily skies

More struggles shall arrive

Faith’s endurance shares light

Trusting to always just ask

God’s wisdom remaining bright

From the words of American Christian writer, John Eldredge:  “Notice that we must ask.  And we will sometimes struggle to hear and struggle with what we hear.  But personally, it’s worth it.  I’m after the path of life–and He alone knows it.”

Everything should be made as simple as possible.

From Proverbs 4:5-6:  “Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.  Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.

Calvin Coolidge Quotes

No person was ever honored for what he received.  Honor has been the reward for what he gave.

Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.

Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933) was the 30th President of the United States, who served from 1923 to 1929.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option.

Mark Twain (1835-1910) was an American author and humorist.  He has often been praised as one of America’s greatest humorists, and American writer William Faulkner called him “the father of American Literature.”

Wisdom’s Heart

From Ephesians 5:15-16:  “Be careful, then, how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil.”

From Ecclesiastes 10:10:  “If the iron is blunt and one does not whet the edge, then more strength must be exerted, but wisdom helps one to succeed.”

The battle of the tongue is won not in the mouth, but in the heart.

From James 1:19-20:  “You must understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger, for human anger does not produce God’s righteousness.”

Annie Chapman is an American Christian author and musician.

Harvest of Righteousness

From James 1:5-6:  “If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.  But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.”
