So if you want to smile through your tears, if you want to rejoice through times of suffering, just keep reminding yourself that, as a Christian, what you’re going through isn’t the end of the story . . . it’s simply the rough journey that leads to the right destination.

Learning God’s truth and getting it into our heads is one thing, but living God’s truth and getting it into our characters is quite something else.

Deep in the dark night of the suffering soul comes a moment when nothing intellectual or psychological matters. It is the time of the touch, the tender touch, a hand held, a cheek kissed, a holy embrace that conveys more to the human spirit than anything from tongue or pen.
From 1 Peter 3:8: Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Listening to Savior Jesus, what joy!
Feeling renewed, with mercy invested
God’s Son gathers peace, ready to deploy
Witnessing this time, brings purpose to life
Forgiving light, leading this faithful walk
Sensing Christ’s harmony, removing all strife
His eternal love, conveying faithful talk
God shapes His flock as a skillful potter
Drawing closer to our Holy Father

Earthly fears are no fears at all. Answer the big question of eternity, and the little questions of life fall into perspective.
From 1 Corinthians 4:6: “I have applied all this to Apollos and myself for your benefit, brothers and sisters, so that you may learn through us the meaning of the saying, ‘Nothing beyond what is written,’ so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of one against another.”

Sitting here on a quiet, morning dawn
Drinking coffee, warming a drowsy mind
Passing the time with memories, all wrong
Looking for warmhearted hopes, none to find
Wishing countless troubles would go away
Thinking another day will bring some hope
Realizing now, my dreams are crushed today
Watching out the window, through hopeless scope
Opening a Bible, found by God’s Grace
Inviting me in, His Word reaches out
Sensing a way to change life’s dismal pace
Offering a new path, without a doubt
Witnessing Christ Jesus on a cruel Cross
Accepting my Savior, no longer lost

Docking our ship at God’s berth
Our blessed Lord sends His harvest
Leaving us with a bountiful taste
Be a doer of God’s Word
Listening with intent, never in haste
Reading the Holy Ten Commandments
God declares all that is good
Be a doer of God’s Word
