As never before in this generation, we realize that we are dependent upon God for protection and strength. Our resolve is firm because our refuge is based on the eternal foundation of the living God.
From 2 Timothy 2:19: “But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.'”
Within a matter of hours night will fall, the dark sky will glitter with moon and stars, and sleep will force itself upon us. Life will continue on uninterrupted. Appreciated or not, the canvas of nature will go on being painted by the fingers of God.
From Psalm 108:5: “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let Your glory be over all the earth.”
God is Holy. Exalted. He is the only wise God, the Creator, the Maker, the Sovereign Lord. He is the Master. We have but one directive, and that it is to do His will.
From Psalm 97:12: “Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to His holy name!”
Circumstances occur that could easily crush us. Unexpectedly, they come. Immediately we have a choice to make . . . an attitude choice.
From Psalm 107:43: “Let those who are wise pay attention to these things and consider the steadfast love of the Lord.”
When times are tough, the Lord is our only security.
From Matthew 6:25, 31-32: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For it is the gentiles who seek all these things, and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
God has a plan for us, mysterious though it may seem, and we want to be in the center of it. All the risks notwithstanding, the center of God’s will is still the safest place on earth to be.
From Psalm 130:6: “My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.”
Listen carefully! Jesus Christ opens the gate, gently looks at you, and says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are over burdened, and I will cause you to rest.” Just come. His provision is profound, attainable, and right.
From Psalm 32:7: “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.”
God’s voice isn’t all that difficult to hear. It’s right there, ink on paper. Count on it–that book will never lead you astray.
From Psalm 38:15: “But it is for you, O Lord, that I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.”
All whom God uses greatly are first hidden in the secret of His presence, away from the pride of man.
From Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
Few acts have a greater impact on those who mistrust us and abuse us than our telling them we forgive them, and we are asking God to forgive them too.
From 1 Peter 4:8: “Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.”
