The vision of God is the source of patience, because it imparts a moral inspiration.
From Habakkuk 2:3: “For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was a Scottish evangelist and Christian teacher. Following his death from an illness while in Egypt during World War I, his wife took on the task of transcribing the detailed notes she had written from his lectures and sermons. Gertrude Hobbs Chambers’ efforts resulted in the publication in 1924 of MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST. I frequently read from this devotional, and it has greatly deepened my faith and understanding of God’s Word.
Gentle morning wakens
Far horizon brightens
Life stirring, yet hidden
Tiny shadow lightens
Leafless sentinels poised
Dignified, yet quiet
Nature’s hungriness growls
Winter’s empty diet
Eager deer stands alone
Daylight now discovers
Prince silently feeding
Thicket grants him cover
Dawn’s light show on display
Warm colors welcome day
Like geese flying above
Dark clouds flutter away
Lone blue heron overhead
Harmony dropping in
Landing on calm waters

Look abroad through Nature’s range, Nature’s mighty law is change.
Prudent, cautious self-control is wisdom’s root.
Robert Burns (1759-1796) was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He was also known as Rabbie Burns, and he was recognized as the national poet of his native Scotland.
From Isaiah 40:28: “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.”
Have you never known?
God’s grace, covering this earth
Have you never heard?
Cold stable, virgin gives birth
Filling heavens with praises
God builds, He provides
Seeding faith with righteousness
His light serves as guide

God’s Word shares His peace

Savior’s love renews faith’s lease
Hearing of Christ’s healing hand
God’s divine plan leads
Empowering man to change
Mercy’s tender reeds

God’s desire to send His Son

Redemption forever won
Lamb of God, in heaven’s wings
God envisions hope
Bridge built between man and God
Savior levels every slope
From Mark 1:38-39: “He answered, ‘Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also, for that is what I came out to do.’ And He went throughout all Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.”

God never calls us to be successful. He calls us to be faithful.
From Romans 1:16-17: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is God’s saving power for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The one who is righteous will live by faith.'”
