Central Ohio’s Walnut Woods Metro Park is located a short drive from my home. I frequently walk the park, and a recent one inspires this poem. Enjoy these photos taken back in April, 2019.

Alarm clock spurring
Nature park invites
Sweet song birds stirring
This morning’s delight
Sunrise opens sky
Clouds sliding away
Welcomes this Buckeye
Creation’s ballet
Quiet moments smile
Spirit walks each trail
Partner with each mile
Fresh air to inhale
Life’s cherished highlights
Blessed start to day
Nature’s revered sights
Moments filled with play
Joyful heart, rejoice
Walk comes to its end
Creation’s brisk voice
Morning’s steady friend

oh this is so delightful, worshipful almost a Psalm! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Kate, I appreciate your kind words of affirmation. I need to craft more verses about nature.

Such beautiful surroundings for a walk. I loved the poem, such majesty in the words that sing to a new day.
God bless you Richard.

I wish I didn’t have allergies to tree pollen. It would be nice to enjoy walks in nature in the spring.

I understand. My wife deals with allergies as well. Thank goodness, we can experience some of nature’s delights through others’ writing, music, and artwork.

Beautiful and artfully done, Big Sky Buckeye! The short lines seem to leave space for savoring, observing, and listening. I’m another Buckeye, though a transplant that started in Illinois, made stopovers in Indiana (3 1/2 years) and Kentucky (3 1/2 years), then spent 40 years in Florida.

Nancy, thank you for sharing your kind words. I, too, am a transplanted Buckeye, but I still keep a foot firmly planted in my native state of Montana. I look forward to reading more of your writings.

Thank you, Richard! I’ll be back to visit here at Big Sky Buckeye too. (I think I now understand the name of your blog–big sky for Montana and buckeye for Ohio?)
