Joy’s Heavenly Place

From Philippians 3:14:  “I press on toward the goal, toward the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Journey through darkness

Consumed by fire of sin

Filled with desires of flesh

Bound for hell’s tailspin

Enemy’s false words

Promises unfulfilled

Confidence now waning

Whisper of hope killed

Shepherd’s gate opens

Calvary’s light beholds

Kneel now, accept His grace

Heaven’s path unfolds

Flesh left in darkness

Repentance of past ways

Leaving sin’s wilderness

Faith in Christ each day

Lord’s grace accepted

Covered with Father’s love

Savoring hope’s reward

Glory from above

Holding fast in trust

Faithful, transforming pace

Redemption forever

Joy’s heavenly place

James H. Aughey Quote

Holiness consists of three things:  separation from sin, dedication to God, transformation into Christ’s image.

From 1 Peter 1:15-16:  “Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance.  Instead, as He who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct, for it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.'”

James H. Aughey (1828-1911) was an American minister.  During the Civil War, he was imprisoned and scheduled to be executed for his anti-Secession and pro-Union beliefs.  Fortunately, he was able to escape from his Confederate captors and reached the lines of the Union army.

Monday Memories: Keep It Simple

From Proverbs 15:15:  “All the days of the poor are hard, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.”

Life draining, more exhausted each day

Skies and mind, filling with darkest gray

Feet feeling locked, stuck in deepest mud

Fear turns on its spigot, now a flood

Advice shouts from all comers, all sides

Inner soul overwhelmed, faith divides

Daily walk, no longer stunning bright

Chaos reigns, becoming lasting night

Seasoned man, parked at Main Street’s corner

Life hits pause, who is this foreigner?

His thoughts and words, simple in their task

Holy Spirit reaches, to unmask

Keep it simple, fill your life with love

God’s peace, bringing comfort from above

In an instant, the wise sage departs

Night transforms to day, love fills this heart

From 1 John 5:3-4:  “ For the love of God is this, that we obey His commandments.  And His commandments are not burdensome, for whatever is born of God conquers the world.  And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith.”

Harvest of Righteousness

From James 1:5-6:  “If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.  But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.”

Journey faces trials

Faith tested by each

Producing endurance

God shall faithfully teach

Wisdom found in God’s Word

Daily lessons speak

Granting transforming grace

Never doubt what He tweaks

Gracious God offers hope

Truth’s new direction

Walking on mercy’s path

Filled with Christ’s perfection

Taste Heaven’s purity

Spirit bringing forth

Trusting in risen Christ

Compass setting, true north

Harvest of righteousness

Sown with seeds to cope

Rising from Calvary

Spirit filled with Christ’s hope

From James 3:13:  “Who is wise and knowledgeable among you?  Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom.”

Catherine Marshall Quote

Sometimes, we need a housecleaning of the heart.

From Ezekiel 36:26:  “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Catherine Marshall (1914-1983) was an American author who wrote about Christian inspiration as well as other nonfiction and fiction works.

Monday Memories: Grace from Above

From Micah 6:8:  “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Filled with mercy and love

God’s Word becoming flesh

Grace and truth, Christ proclaims

Spirit comes to refresh

God’s message resonates

Resist dark temptations

Gives grace to the humble

Receive His salvation

Believing in Jesus

Saved by “Amazing Grace”

Love transcends from above

Light shines upon each face

Doesn’t look for our faults

Our Lord never keeps score

His grace given freely

Loving us, evermore

Transformation through faith

Raising life from the dead

Unfathomable love

By grace, and blood Christ shed

From the words of American pastor and Christian author, Charles Swindoll:  “Grace operates apart from the response or the ability of the individual.  Grace is one-sided.  Grace is God giving Himself in full acceptance to someone who does not deserve it and can never earn it and will never be able to repay.”

Suffocated in Drought

Photo by Markus Spiske on Pexels.com

Leaves falling early

Nature witnesses drought

Farmers’ harvest dwindles

Future seeming in doubt

Nation in crisis

Hopeful news faces drought

Today fills with darkness

Tomorrow seeks fresh route

World’s chaos deepens

Suffocated in drought

Actions for peace missing

Voices of anguish sprout

Leaves filling with green

Rainfall erases drought

Farmers’ outlook restored

Future transformed from doubt

Nation’s common ground

Compromise quelling drought

Hope’s spirit rekindled

Tomorrow walks new route

World commits to peace

Goodwill overcomes drought

Togetherness . . . one goal

Voices of courage sprout

David Wilkerson Quote

Faith is not to get you out of a hard place but to change your heart in the hard place.

From Ezekiel 36:26:  “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

David Wilkerson (1931-2011) was an American evangelist, Christian author, and pastor.
