Every time you see a cross, remember what it really was–an instrument of execution. Though the scene of your redemption was horrendous, Christ turned the cross into a place of great triumph.
From Colossians 2:13-14: “And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with Him, when He forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross.”

From John 14:25-27: “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
Receiving peace, covering far and near
Generating from God’s genuine love
Peace be within us, God blesses our souls
Through His Word, accepting grace from above
Tranquility resting, among God’s flock
Lord forever standing, with heaven’s peace
Surpassing all of our understanding
Jesus lives, delivering life’s new lease
Rely on Christ, seeking His inner peace
Through our Savior, nurturing hearts and minds
In faithfulness, accepting Him as Lord
Teach us to follow, salvation we find
Living Holy Spirit, guided by God
Transforming love, joy, peace—granted from God
Within a matter of hours night will fall, the dark sky will glitter with moon and stars, and sleep will force itself upon us. Life will continue on uninterrupted. Appreciated or not, the canvas of nature will go on being painted by the fingers of God.
From Psalm 108:5: “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let Your glory be over all the earth.”
From Romans 8:12-13: “So then, brothers and sisters, we are obligated, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
Accepting Jesus Christ
Freeing from sin and death
Spirit within now calls
Freeing Word’s divine breath
Dwelling deep in our souls
Feeding with Living Bread
Spirit within now cares
Feeding from grace ahead
Suffering with Jesus
Walking from bloody cross
Spirit within now breathes
Walking free, evil’s loss
Stepping into hope’s light
Living under God’s will
Spirit within now speaks
Living through Christ’s goodwill
Praying to one Father
Speaking from empty heart
Spirit within now leads
Speaking with faith’s new start
From Romans 8:26-27: “ Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with groanings too deep for words. And God, who searches hearts, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
Joy is the serious business of Heaven.
From Philippians 4:4-5: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.”
Entering
Narrow gate
Road appears hard
But, leads to new
Life
Walking
With Jesus
Truth’s unshakable hand
Faith defines our future
Life
Receiving
Lord’s grace
Steadfast in faith
Blessed gift of eternal
Life
The preaching that this world needs most is sermons in shoes that are walking with Jesus Christ.

From Psalm 18:2-3: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, so I shall be saved from my enemies.”

Edward Mote (1797-1874) was an English pastor and prolific hymn writer. One of his most beloved hymns, “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less,” was composed in 1834.
Only participation in the full life of a local church builds spiritual muscle.
