      • In Interior Alaska, we have had -60 F to -20 F or big snow storms dumping several feet of snow. It was about -40 F early this morning and warmed up to about -15 F. We get more daylight every day but it is still very cold. Since November it has been in the negative temperatures. But the increasing light makes it easier. The snow will leave in early May. It sounds cold for Ohio. Trust you are staying warm.

  1. Loved that first haiku, especially the last line: “Now who loves winter?” 😁 I’ve probably said it here before, but after 40 years in Florida putting up with stifling heat and humidity, I’m happy to be in the Midwest–even in wintertime (although we live in the more southern reaches of this region). Last week it was warm enough that I actually sat on the deck in the afternoon and must have heard 10-12 different birds, according to my Merlin APP. Today I’m bundled in my layers–indoors–but no less content. I do love winter–as long as the furnace keeps running!

    • Nancy, I appreciate your reflections. I’ve been in those same places with my years of living in Montana and later in Ohio. For the first time, I experienced a rough ‘n tumble winter in the Buckeye state.
