Sorry Hubby
Home’s Mister Fix-It
Not really “Jack of all trades”—
Wife calls her expert

Proof’s in the Results
Busy across street
Neighbor repairing home’s roof—
Inside . . . buckets wait

Needing Exercise
Hiking to mailbox
Realizing while walking back—
Holiday . . . no mail

The first photo and haiku brought to mind a little phrase well-known among some of my blue collar friends: checkbook mechanic. All of us know (and appreciate!) people who lack skills but have money. We do the work, they pay us, and everyone’s happy.

Indeed, most of us will need help from an expert once in awhile. One of my brothers is much more self-sufficient than most. He defines what it means to be a genuine “Jack of all trades.”

These made me chuckle. I have loved my husband for over 50 years, but he really is not a Mr. Fixit. He is the first one to call in an expert when we need something repaired.
