Ceaseless, overnight rain
Early morn’s swollen creek
Flowing outside its bank
Nature ready to tweak
Smaller tributaries
Never to be left out
Gathering their volume
Flood’s growing runabout
Cloud’s river of moisture
Lengthy, not finished yet
Forecasting gloomy skies
Weather’s headlines typeset
Sun planning its comeback
But not for day or two
Waiting with humble song
Nature croons springtime blues

I love the sound of rain, and from now on I will think of it as “nature crooning.” What a beautiful way to describe it!

Vickie, I am pleased that you connected with the expression of “nature croons.” Some of the song masters of past generations were labeled as crooners . . . Crosby, Sinatra, Como, and many others.

My mom’s favorites were Sinatra and Crosby so I heard a lot of their songs as I grew up.

We’re having the springtime blues here too. It seems like three steps forward, two steps back, but at least we’re making progress.

I understand Anneli. While Ohio has missed most of this winter’s snowfall, we’ve experienced an up and down March and early April in terms of temperatures. This week, spring finally decided to blossom with some definite conviction.
