Night wakens sweet tooth
Harvesting freezer’s ice cream—
Sundae anyone?
Backyard football game
Unleashing perfect spiral—
Kitchen window scores
Snowball fight pauses
Hot chocolate with cookies—
Mother born to lead
Mothers occupy life’s most special place
Loving their family, sharing God’s grace
Mothers share generous spirit each day
Teaching with Christ’s love, parenting His way
Mothers brighten each home’s earthy landscape
Making time sweeter as household takes shape
Mothers nurture children, unselfish love
Following God’s mercy, shining above
Mothers dream of humble lives with fresh starts
Sharing God’s lasting peace with fragile hearts
Mothers’ self-sacrifice, her shining light
Giving of herself, tender lives take flight
Mothers seeking what’s best in newborn’s life
Praying for harmony, absent of strife
Mothers devote selves, God’s highest calling
Preventing precious new lives from falling
Mothers encourage with God’s building blocks
Witnessing playtime in backyard’s sandbox
Mothers leave legacy within each child
Living righteously with God, reconciled
Mothers cherish every blessed step
Sprinkling heaven’s stardust at love’s doorstep
[From January, 2020] This poem is written to honor one of my daughters in Montana. She celebrates a birthday this week with her husband and three children. May God continue to fill her home with His blessings.

A mother’s heart fills the world with light
Born on a winter day, her life takes flight
Her loving and caring mother nurtures each day
Providing a Godly witness, with richness to say
God fills this young girl’s life with amazing gifts
Watching her exciting life mature, never adrift
God prepares a woman to be an attentive mother
Gathering life’s essentials, she is like none other
Christ walks at her side, creating genuine smiles
Feeling His presence, her life goes the extra mile
A young man catches her discerning eye with love
Unifying this couple, under blue skies from above
Their lives moving forward, with a balanced pace
Witnessing marriage and family, God as its base
This mother through it all, feels God waiting nearby
Striding ahead, her Lord’s Word glorifying the “why”
With each generation, a mother shares her light
Inspiring her children, to grow under God’s sight

This free-verse poem was originally published in June, 2019. While the theme is filled with humor, between the lines one can read about the endless duties of a mother. In this case, she is busy during a summer’s break from the school year routines. This repost is dedicated to all mothers for a job well done!
Summer finally arrives
Breaking from school routines
Children eager, excited, hyper-filled, energized
When does Mom get to take a break?
Chauffeuring children everywhere
Swimming lessons, sports camps
Gas tank never seems full
When does Mom ever get to run to a special place?
Thunderstorms pop up
Bringing their usual culprits
Rain, wind, hail, lightning, thunder
How did Mom’s new umbrella end up in the yard?
Enjoyable family gatherings
Long picnics, games aplenty
Lots of tasty food prepared
But Mom—why are we picking up a bucket at KFC?
Travel plans made
Laundry, packing, laundry, repacking
Mom still must be “Mom”
When does Mom get to enjoy “her” vacation?
School arrives again
Summer finally over—finally!
Bus leaves with the kiddos
Why does Mom hit the snooze again?
