Monday Memories: Lonely Heart

Photo by Bich Tran on Pexels.com

Alone and isolated

Empty calendar pages

Absent family and friends

Life walking in Dark Ages

Hour’s darkest shadows lengthen

Day’s hope missteps and stumbles

Sudden tears, any moment

Faith now tumbles, then crumbles

Day awakens, same old drill

Memories fade, bit by bit

Miles from nowhere, so alone

Silence fills heart, not close-knit

Few good days dwarfed by bad ones

Sunny smiles becoming few

Lonely heart needs titan’s lift

Shining light makes its breakthrough

Make it a point today to reach out to someone who could use a warm hug, a trusting smile, or a kind word.  Lonely hearts fill many people with emptiness; share your light.

Time’s New Lease

Photo by Rafael Minguet Delgado on Pexels.com

Sunrise brightens this day

Framing with precious light

Adventure comes this way

Guiding morning’s delights

Clearest blue sky above

Releasing gentle voice

Blessed with Creator’s love

Calling self to rejoice

Stillness of ocean’s breeze

Finding life’s missing piece

Each hour dissolves unease

Unlocking time’s new lease

Peaceful waters spread out

Prevailing winds called forth

Navigation’s new route

Setting compass true north

Malcolm X Quotes

We need more light about each other.  Light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience, patience creates unity.

You can’t separate peace from freedom because no one can be a peace unless he has his freedom.

Malcolm X (1925-1965) was an American human rights activist.

Hope’s Redeeming Place

From 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5:  “But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.  And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will go on doing the things that we command.  May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”

Robert Penn Warren Quotes

The poem is not a thing we see; it is, rather, a light by which may see.

Everything seems an echo of something else.

Robert Penn Warren (1905-1989) was an American poet and novelist.  His received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1947 for his novel, ALL THE KING’S MEN.
