There is no way of deliverance from the state and condition of being in the flesh, but by the Spirit of Christ.

From Romans 8:3-4:  “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and to deal with sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

John Owen (1616-1683) was an English Puritan church leader and theologian.

Faith’s Cornerstone

From Isaiah 30:15:  “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:  In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”

Father looks upon His design

His perfection draws each detail

Filling darkness with trusted light

Faith now strengthens, no longer frail

Father molds mercy’s truth to shine

His promises to be fulfilled

Sending Shepherd, care for His flock

Faith’s cornerstone, set to rebuild

Father plans enemy’s demise

His victory shall bring glory

Witnessing Teacher’s lesson plans

Faith refreshed with every story

Father pulls strings of righteousness

His forgiving love offers hope

Wiping away sin’s endless debt

Faith grips Savior’s eternal rope

Father calls out from Calvary

His boldness breathes with quiet might

Offering life through Jesus Christ

Faith’s peace, rising on heaven’s flight

From Isaiah 30:20-21:  “Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself any longer, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.  And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”

Faith Coming Alive

From John 11:25-26:  “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in Me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?'”

Overwhelming with darkness

Tomorrow’s vision unseen

Out of life’s impossible

Wondering what faith will mean

Calvary’s light beams ahead

Today offers blessed place

Possible waiting in view

Powering toward Christ’s grace

Prince of Peace offers his hand

Hour of hope at last arrives

Redemption shall be fulfilled

Seeing faith coming alive

Bitter sorrow fades away

In Christ, mercy filled with love

Answers to prayer’s journey

Touching Spirit high above

From John 10:9-10:  “I am the gate.  Whoever enters by Me will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Share Savior’s Grace

From John 20:19-20:  “When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’  After He said this, He showed them His hands and His side.  Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.”

Witnessing faithful heart

Soul filling with boldness

Praying to Risen Savior

Transformed from Calvary’s coldness

Flowing from high mountains

Gift of living water

Feeding Jordan’s headwaters

Baptized each son and daughter

Proving mercy conquers death

Christ leads to faith’s rebirth

Walking no more in darkness

Anchored forgiveness at hope’s berth

Hearing “Peace be with you”

Spirit’s power now comes

Bestowing eternal joy

Heard from harmony’s faithful drum

Calling each believer

Go forth, share Savior’s grace

Blessing as He blesses us

Enriched with Resurrection’s embrace

From Acts 4:32-33:  “Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.  With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.”

While we cannot escape our dark society, God has provided everything we need to live in the light of our all-sufficient Savior, Jesus Christ.

From Ephesians 5:8-9:  “For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light.  Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.”

Elizabeth George Quote

Obedience is a foundational stepping-stone on the path of God’s will.

From 1 John 2:1-3:  “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.  But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.  Now by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commandments.”

Elizabeth George (born 1944) is an American Christian author and speaker.

Heavenly Provisions

From 1 Timothy 3:16-17:  “Without any doubt, the mystery of godliness is great:  He was revealed in flesh, vindicated in spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory.”
