God’s Embrace

From Psalm 85:5-6:  “Will you be angry with us forever?  Will you prolong your anger to all generations?  Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you?”

Searching to find peace

Hidden by dark winds

Discomfort arrives

For mankind hath sinned

Touched by God’s embrace

Peace steps into light

Feeling His comfort

Grace washes flesh white

Praying to Father

Hope now reaches out

Finding peace at last

His Word carries clout

Steps walking in faith

God’s love shall not cease

Replacing darkness

Sharing endless peace

From Luke 2:12-14:  “This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom He favors!'”

Praising His Light

From Isaiah 9:2:  “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shined.”

From Bethlehem, arrives light

Lying in stable’s manger

Humble birth of hope’s Savior

Grace no longer man’s stranger

Shepherds witness God’s glory

Kneeling and praising His light

Justice shall cover this land

Mercy’s, one eternal flight

Christ answers His Father’s call

Saving every tender reed

Light pushes away darkness

Evil shall never impede

Righteousness shall mark all days

Opening each heart and mind

Jesus shall never waver

His light, perfectly aligned

From Isaiah 42:6-7:  “I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I have taken you by the hand and kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.”

From Galatians 5:22-24:  “By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against such things.  And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Harry Ironside Quote

The flame of testimony burns brightly when fed with the oil of grace.

From Psalm 23:5-6:  “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Harry Ironside (1876-1951) was a Canadian-born pastor, theologian, and Christian author.  This renowned Bible teacher wrote over 100 books, booklets, and pamphlets.

Called to March

From Luke 23:44-46:  “It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun’s light failed, and the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Then Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit.’  Having said this, He breathed his last.”

Darkness surrounds solemn ground

Bloodied cross witnesses death

Son of Man’s reign ending now

His journey, now out of breath

Heartless enemy praises

Night sky covers grave of death

Disciples fleeing . . . hiding

But grace, never out of breath

Son of God shall rise, be seen

Morning light erases death

Praising over vacant tomb

Alleluia fills each breath

Called to march with our Savior

Love forever conquers death

Crown beloved Christ, our King

Mercy’s everlasting breath

From Matthew 28:5-6:  “But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here, for He has been raised, as He said.  Come, see the place where He lay.'”

Lasting Foundation

From Luke 21:17-19:  “You will be hated by all because of my name.  But not a hair of your head will perish.  By your endurance you will gain your souls.”

Facing life’s trials

To whom shall we turn?

Walking every mile

Faith in God shall yearn

Fading sun grows dark

From whom comes next light?

Igniting faith’s spark

God’s mercy glows bright

Leading each nation

To whom shall we pray?

Lasting foundation

God’s faith never sways

Fleeing darkest flames

From whom comes safe place?

Living God takes aim

Faith’s grace-filled embrace

From Malachi 4:2-3:  “But for you who revere My name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.  You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.  And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts.”
