Ready, Set, Go!
Winter moves aside
Spring rains water faithful seeds—
Summer flowers bloom

Blessed Soil
Backyard garden plot
This farmer never retires—
Hands in richest earth

Annual Rite of Spring
Hearing crack of bat
Season of baseball returns—
Stealing one more base

Spring is my husband’s favorite season because he loves to “play in the dirt” and goes outside daily to check on plants, weed and just give them some love. He also is a huge fan of baseball! I enjoy seeing the flower garden that he planted just outside the window next to my chair in the den. That was a labor of love for him and it shows!

As I wrote the Haiku about spring planting, I was thinking of your husband’s joy in all that he does. Blessings to both of you.

No, I don’t watch baseball because I’m not a sports fan. My husband likes the Red Sox.

Sorry that I don’t know that there is one particular player he likes to watch. He likes all of them and keeps a notebook wherein he writes their stats.

Diane, I appreciate the addition of your voice this post’s conversation. Here in Ohio, spring has finally begun to show up with warmer days. Farmers are itching to return to their fields to sow corn and soybeans.

Thank you Kate. While we are experiencing spring, I know your autumn season is upon you. Autumn remains my favorite season.

lol we don’t get the colourful displays you have, just shorter days and more layers to wear 🙂

I can relate to autumn’s ever-shorter days and cooler temps.

Dawn, thanks for sharing your love of baseball. I grew up in a baseball community so I followed the game for many years. I admit that I don’t follow the current game as often, but the memories of the past always stir inside of me. A native of Montana, Dave McNally, pitched for the Baltimore Orioles in the 60s and 70s.

Sophia, I think your question was meant for another reader. I don’t follow baseball as much as I used to, but there was a time when I followed the Yankees.

I’ve never followed the Phillies. I used to watch the Tigers while living in Michigan.
