      • I got poison oak as a child of about 8 or 10. Some neighbors near our cabin in Felton (near Santa Cruz, CA) were burning a field of it and I breathed in the smoke. I got poison oak in my throat and nostrils and on my tongue. I got it in my eyes. They swelled. The tongue swelled. The throat swelled. I had trouble breathing, Mom had to take me to ER. I don’t remember what they did. But I survived it, of course. Needless to say, I am not a fan of poison oak or poison ivy!
