Treasured Pleasures

Sunrise at Walnut Woods

Sunrise at Walnut Woods Metro Park in central Ohio.

Every day, filling with precious moments

Life’s simple pleasures, love-filling treasures

Never again, take any for granted

Traveling life’s long road, each step measures

Darkened dawn sky, erupting with bright hues

Granddaughter taking first tentative walk

Life sometimes slows down, bringing a replay

Neighborhood sidewalk, hopscotch drawn in chalk

Neil Diamond lyrics, harmony through song

Mother calls, reminding me her love cares

Favorite novel, author’s words smile back

Trio of daughters, sweeter than a pair

Evening sunset, brings awesome pleasures

Tomorrow, witnessing simple treasures

Harvest God’s Treasures

From Luke 12:32-34:  “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.  Sell your possessions, and give alms.  Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in Heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Mankind endlessly searches earth’s treasures

Wandering and looking under each rock

Few ever deliver much to measure

As time flees, few seconds left on a clock

Treasures worth seeking, always to be found

Depositing the seeds of faith with God

His Word brings a richness, lovingly bound

Accept now His Grace, with a “yes” and nod

No earthly treasure can compare to this

Eternal life awaits, accept His call

Taking up our cross, we follow God’s list

His Holy treasure, never fails or falls

Following our Lord, no need to measure

Christ’s blood brings a harvest of treasures

America’s Minister of Encouragement, Dennis Swanberg, writes:  “There is absolutely  no evidence that complexity and materialism lead to happiness.  On the contrary, there is plenty of evidence that simplicity and spirituality lead to joy, a blessedness that is better than happiness.”

Coast to Coast

Sightseeing from Atlantic to Pacific coasts

Experiencing America, with much to boast

Lady Liberty’s gleaming torch welcomes all

Blazing autumn colors define Vermont’s fall

Appalachians conceal valleys, nestled with small towns

Nashville plays music for biggest “Country” hoedown

Florida’s Everglades house gators galore

Across America’s skies, bald eagles soar

Commanding Mississippi River slices through the land

Florida and California beaches offer up surf and sand

Interstate highways transport autos everywhere

Great Lakes provide a waterway, here to there

New Orleans offering its French Quarter to entertain

To the South, Rio Grande River creates a watery lane

America’s breadbasket reaps harvests from the Great Plains

Loaded grain, freight, and more journey on mile-long trains

Towering Rockies sing of marvelous beauty up high

Visiting out West, appreciating a Big Montana Sky

Seattle’s Pike’s Market, a distinctive place to treasure

California’s redwoods, their height is one to measure

Arid Southwest rains bloom flowers throughout the land

Grand Canyon’s brilliant scenery plays a winning hand

Finally reaching the Pacific coast at long last

The Golden Gate Bridge arrives much too fast

Big Sky Moments

Wedding 2018 February 002.JPG

Waking up on a cold, frigid, winter morn

Looking like one more day with a storm

Pulling the warm covers over my bare head

Let’s fast forward to a new season instead

Always dreaming big at night

Never alone, perfect delight

Fast forward to a hot summer day

Sensational, unblemished blue sky

Feeling an urge to jump up, shout and say

Have you ever seen a more beautiful sky?

Seeing a Big Montana Sky

Morning sun climbs high

Traveling to Montana brings pure pleasures

Experiencing a saddlebag full of treasures

Shining high above, a cloudless view

Bringing a smile to God, always true

Always dreaming big at night

Never alone, perfect delight

Western hospitality, the Big Sky way

Filled with warmest smiles, no haste

Be certain to come back as we always say

Montana’s Big Sky, the Last Best Place!

Both photographs come from my private collection of images from southwestern Montana.  Some of my readers have probably missed earlier posts about Montana, the Big Sky Country.  Here are links to previously published posts about my native state.  Enjoy!
