Curious Trivial Facts (1/1)

This informative post will be posted on Saturday along with my usual writing.  We can all appreciate some of the lesser known facts from around the world.

Although it ranks as the world’s fifth-busiest airport, more people start their trips at Los Angeles International than any other airport in the world.

In a publicity stunt to recognize the one million copies sold of Glenn Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo Choo” in 1942, RCA Records spray-painted a record gold and presented it to Miller during a radio show.  A decade later, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) borrowed the idea and started issuing Gold Records whenever sales hit five hundred thousand.

These facts have been discovered in I NEVER KNEW THAT by David Hoffman (2009).

Only by walking with God can we hope to find the path that leads to life.

From Proverbs 3:5-6:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

By Faith Alone

From Hebrews 11:1:  “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Praising his earthly work ethic

Man seeking Father’s lasting grace

Totally missing Gospel’s heart

By faith alone, shall love embrace

Preparing for Heaven’s homeland

Mercy of Christ walking ahead

Righteousness, marking worldly path

By faith alone, waits daily bread

Tasting God’s eternal goodness

Earthly trials, evil’s dark hand

Lord’s strength overcomes man’s weakness

By faith alone, His grace commands

Seeking blessings for things hoped for

Filled with promises, where love dwells

Thirsty for Christ’s living water

By faith alone, salvation swells

From Hebrews 11:6:  “And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

Pearl S. Buck Quotes

Many people lose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness.

If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.

American writer and novelist, Pearl S. Buck (1892-1973), spent much of her early life in China as a missionary.  She was widely heralded for her book, THE GOOD EARTH, which was published in 1931.  She garnered the Pulitzer Prize in 1932 and later the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1938.

The greatest faith is born in the hour of despair.

From Ephesians 6:16:  “With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”

Monday Memories: Shattered Hopes

From Romans 10:12-13:  “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call Him.  For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'”

Sitting here on a quiet, morning dawn

Drinking coffee, warming a drowsy mind

Passing the time with memories, all wrong

Looking for warmhearted hopes, none to find

Wishing countless troubles would go away

Thinking another day will bring some hope

Realizing now, my dreams are crushed today

Watching out the window, through hopeless scope

Opening a Bible, found by God’s Grace

Inviting me in, His Word reaches out

Sensing a way to change life’s dismal pace

Offering a new path, without a doubt

Witnessing Christ Jesus on a cruel Cross

Accepting my Savior, no longer lost
