Spirit Within

Accepting Jesus Christ

Freeing from sin and death

Spirit within now calls

Freeing Word’s divine breath

Dwelling deep in our souls

Feeding with Living Bread

Spirit within now cares

Feeding from grace ahead

Suffering with Jesus

Walking from bloody cross

Spirit within now breathes

Walking free, evil’s loss

Stepping into hope’s light

Living under God’s will

Spirit within now speaks

Living through Christ’s goodwill

Praying to one Father

Speaking from empty heart

Spirit within now leads

Speaking with faith’s new start

Monday Memories: Jesus Comes Near

Life’s wilderness breathes–this dark, lonely place

Falling away with sin, feeling disgraced

Searching for hope’s light, weary of darkness

Shame and guilt unmask tracks, never erased

Coming to this place, filled with prickly thorns

Plowing straight through, left bloody and battered

Searching for new hope, never forgotten

This harsh life’s future, forever shattered

Ominous clouds loom over horizon

Lightning strikes, temple curtain torn in two

Searching for life’s fresh start, to be reborn

Plodding into darkness, absent of clues

Deserving life’s worst, approaching the Pit

End of time arrives, stop and surrender

Searching for God’s Grace, feeling forsaken

Heavens brighten up, with newfound splendor

Stumbling steps make haste, Eternity waits

From bloody Cross, hope springs from empty tomb

Searching and accepting, come near this Cross

Salvation through Christ, our Father’s heirloom

Jesus beckons, come forward, taking knee

Bring sin’s burdens to the Cross, forever free

Help in Trouble

Drowning in sinfulness

Darkness covers this land

Needing help in trouble

God reaches out His hand

Facing our transgressions

Mighty hand bringing grace

Saving us, all alone

God tapping life’s backspace

Sending love through His Son

Refuge found in one cross

Squashing dark’s empty hope

God triggers evil’s loss

Leaning on His wisdom

Strength flows from His power

Living with righteousness

God rebuilds faith’s tower

Knowing we walk with Him

Lord’s armor covers thee

Praying in Christ’s spirit

God’s mercy sets us free

This poem is designed with every three verses using a modified Haiku format (with the first and third verses rhyming). The verses alternate between God’s exhortations (the odd verses) and our responses (the even verses).
