Life’s actions turning left

Mindless thoughts moving right

Endless, fruitless efforts

Waiting in depths of night

Tarnished hours filled with sin

Darkness sails for Hell’s fire

Tumult of restless seas

Facing evil’s crossfire

Righteousness marks new life

Son of God offers grace

Selfish aims fall away

Walking without disgrace

Always looking forward

Salvation’s cost, high-priced

Blood on Calvary’s cross

Looking to face of Christ

Mercy removes blindness

Empty tomb raises hope

Old ways crumble to dust

Clutching redemption’s rope

From Romans 3:23-24: “Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

From Psalm 84:3-4: “Even the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at Your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Happy are those who live in Your house, ever singing Your praise.”

Dwelling in God’s house

Joy of worship sings

Grace always flowing

From eternal springs

Lord ever present

Blessing living things

Promises now filled

Trust in Lord shall ring

Sparrows and swallows

Building each new nest

Creation’s new home

God never at rest

Signs of Father’s love

Worshipping with praise

Spirit of hope breathes

Strength in Him shall raise

Walking with Jesus

Peace never departs

Favor and honor

Love fills every heart

With lyrics inspired from Psalm 32:8 (words of David) and Matthew 8:26 (words of Jesus), the Gospel-rich hymn of “His Eye is on the Sparrow” shares a stirring and encouraging message. Civilla D Martin wrote these lyrics in 1905 with the composition from Charles H. Gabriel.

Rebels and sinners

Destroying mankind

Forsaking our Lord

Always running blind

Evil filled with sin

Facing God’s high court

Shamming His guidance

Always falling short

His wrath pouring out

Avenging life’s foes

Consuming darkness

Always Father knows

Zion falls empty

Trampling God no more

Heeding to listen

Always grace to pour

Savior born on earth

Wielding Gospel’s might

Sharing His mercy

Always Christ’s daylight

Eroding landscape

Darkest days ahead

Hopelessness takes shape

False prophets at work

Preaching hollow words

Continuous gloom

Gospel never heard

Seeking true healing

Spirit never waits

Always revealing

Christ’s redemption saves

Spurning evil ways

Ember of faith grows

Resurrection’s blaze

Heavens open up

Showering God’s love

Lifting Us Up

Life’s stumbles and missteps

Seeing failure once more

Judging ourselves harshly

Father brings us ashore

Agony breathes again

Grabbing mercy’s lifeline

Lifting us up with grace

Anchored to Father’s vine

Evil tells us, stay down

Pushing through, comes His love

Pulling always forward

Father’s glory above

Faith feeds on righteousness

Taking up Savior’s cross

Believing in His Word

Father’s love comes across

Justice removes darkness

Marching to heaven’s beat

Singing hymns of praises

Joy sails with Father’s fleet

Standing and lifting eyes upward

Asking for help

But, from where will it come?

Reading from a cherished Bible

Finding the words

Of a patient and gracious Lord

Humbling images of God’s plan

Creating the heavens

As well as the earth

Feeling the grace of God

Providing shade

At one’s right hand

Sleeping is never His wish

Watching over

His people at every moment

Praying to a compassionate Lord

Listening now

His words bring comfort

Protecting us at all times

Witnessing Him

Life’s Breakwater

Haunting landscape of needs

Darkness, breathless with fear

Back streets can never hide

Overflowing with tears

Facing hunger-filled void

Shadows filled with man’s greed

Overburdened labors

Breathing amongst ragweed

Walking with heart of pain

Emptiness without dreams

Thirst waiting to be quenched

Beholding mercy’s stream

Hearing sorrowful cries

Clamorous, selfish strife

Voice speaking, Son of God

Rising above each life

Flowing freshness of grace

Well of Living Water

Each heart again restored

Forming life’s breakwater

Trusting God, door opens

Divine plan sharing grace

Believing promises

Forsaking evil’s place

Breaking chains of darkness

Jesus taking man’s place

Dying on cruelest cross

Bringing freedom’s embrace

Stepping forward in Christ

Forgiveness emerges

Sending redemption’s gift

Quelling sinful urges

Restoring place with God

Cross proclaims, “Come to Me”

Erasing lifetime’s debts

Leaving sin, walking free

Delivering God’s peace

Eternity appears

Witnessing empty tomb

Hearing angelic cheers
