It is a joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to step more intimately with Him.
From John 15:4-5: “Abide in Me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in Me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from Me you can do nothing.”
This poem is written to honor one of my daughters in Montana. She celebrates a birthday this week with her husband and three children. May God continue to fill her home with His blessings.

A mother’s heart fills the world with light
Born on a winter day, her life takes flight
Her loving and caring mother nurtures each day
Providing a Godly witness, with richness to say
God fills this young girl’s life with amazing gifts
Watching her exciting life mature, never adrift
God prepares a woman to be an attentive mother
Gathering life’s essentials, she is like none other
Christ walks at her side, creating genuine smiles
Feeling His presence, her life goes the extra mile
A young man catches her discerning eye with love
Unifying this couple, under blue skies from above
Their lives moving forward, with a balanced pace
Witnessing marriage and family, God as its base
This mother through it all, feels God waiting nearby
Striding ahead, her Lord’s Word glorifying the “why”
With each generation, a mother shares her light
Inspiring her children, to grow under God’s sight

I have held many things in my hands, and have lost them all, but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.

I awaken with a heavy heart today
Sleeping later than usual if I may
My thoughts are with those in dire need
Hoping their lives will blossom to please
When a person cares about others nearby
Feeling their sadness and sorrow going by
It causes me to really stop and think
Dashing my energy whenever I blink
I feel like running to those who suffer so
Forgetting the many miles that I must go
I reach for my Bible at this morning hour
Reading God’s word that forever towers
His amazing grace and love always fill me up
Plugging the vacuum of a sinner who’s corrupt
My Bible journey transports me to Psalm 31
Allowing the words to reach out, one by one
I pursue refuge with my almighty God, my Lord
Delivering to me His righteousness, like a sword
God has created a holy, mighty fortress for all
Carrying all of us to a safe place before we fall
Lord, remove me from this netting that holds thee
Allowing my troubles to fall as I drop to my knees
I extend my troubled hand out to His
Guiding me to bless Him and all that is
My Lord has redeemed me to stand firm
Sending me forth to help others in return
Waking up on a morning when my own heart was indeed very heavy, God transformed my attitude in His way. Before writing this poem, I was reading a short devotional, and the Biblical text sent me to Psalm 31:1-5. Use the link to read these inspiring verses.

Of course you’ll encounter trouble. But behold a God of power who can take any evil and turn it into a door of hope.
From Colossians 1:26-27: “The mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to His saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Crying out to our Father
Praying, please hear our voices
Facing distress, listen O God
Standing here, our only choice
Bringing Holy Deliverance
Saving forsaken sinners
Abounding and steadfast love
Cooling sin, let it simmer
Taking a knee before God
Marking truthful paths with hope
Singing a new song, filled with joy
Walking along life’s tightrope
Knowing our thoughts, gracious God
Following His faithful love
Helping reconnect life’s dots
Rescuing from sin’s tight glove
Conductor shouts “All Aboard”
Covering us with God’s favor
Sending Grace, freely to all
Offering life with a new flavor

The Lord Jesus by His Holy Spirit is with me, and the knowledge of His presence dispels the darkness and allays any fears.
From Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.”

Searching the local bookstore for one of the all-time classics to read, I find myself wandering the nearly infinite rows of bookcases, overflowing with books of every kind. I am not looking for just any book, mind you. My reading appetite hungers for something rich in prose, but the book needs to fit my personal definition of a classic.
As I walk around, my eyes notice many classics of American literature. I flip through pages of book after book. Hmm, “not this one” becomes my common response. Frustration is beginning to set in, and the time is growing late.
While these books would fill many lists of some of the most treasured novels to read, my appetite is still looking for something with the “crowning glory” of literature. My vigilant book search continues.
Coming around a corner, the final section of the enormous store is laid out in front of me. This overly small section is buzzing with activity. A large gathering of book lovers are digging all over its shelves. What stories are these readers of classic literature finding here?
Feeling the excitement now as well, my eyes capture a beautiful volume with the above stories, but I also discover “The Greatest Story of All-Time” about a Galilean named Jesus Christ.
My spiritual journey has finished at last. The Holy Bible will fill my spiritual hunger for an eternity. Amen!
