Robert Greene Quotes

You must always be prepared to place a bet on yourself, on your future, by heading in a direction that others seem to fear.

Understand:  you are one of a kind.  Your character traits are a kind of chemical mix that will never be repeated in history.

Robert Greene (born 1959) is an American author.  He has written six international bestsellers based around the topics of strategy and power.

Love’s Compass

From Colossians 3:1-2:  “So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.”

From Colossians 3:12-13:  “Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.  Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”

Though our physical body ages, our soul stays young as we continually grow in the Lord.

From Psalm 92:14-15:  “In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of sap, showing that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

Anais Nin Quotes

You don’t find love, it finds you.  It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars.

Do not seek the because–in love there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions.

Anais Nin (1903-1977) was a French-born American writer of novels and short stories.  Much of her published works came from her diaries.

Monday Memories: A Writer’s Way

Discovering words with something to say

Penning poems and stories every day

Draining cups of coffee, right on cue

Feeling emptiness, like singing the blues

Holding on to thoughts, waiting to give birth

Sailing onward, words waiting to unearth

Painting with dazzling textures, shapes, and hues

Viewing sketches, filling these eyes with clues

Searching for future poems, like twinkling stars

Linking verses while traveling to Mars

Crafting words, really not science you see

Navigating this writer’s mind, feeling free

Seeking prose, lost deep in this writer’s soul

Uncovering a few, making each day full

Looking for stories, over each rainbow

Finding inspiring words, eager to flow

Drinking more coffee, than one should consume

Creating endless text, now ready to bloom

Grasping this pen, creating one more tune

Drafting a masterpiece, ready by Noon

Writing encounters monumental quests

Hoping these words will always pass all tests

Honoring these writing moments, so sweet

Dreaming of fashioning each splendid treat

arid bryce canyon clouds color

Winston Churchill Quotes

One man with conviction will overwhelm a hundred who have only opinions.

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word:  freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

Winston Churchill (1874-1965) served the United Kingdom as Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and later from 1951-1955.  He unwavering leadership during World War II lifted the spirits of his nation in the darkest of times.  He was also a prolific writer with countless published works.

God’s Firm Pathway

From Psalm 37:1-2:  “Do not fret because of the wicked; do not be envious of wrongdoers, for they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.”

Another day

One more trial

Kneeling to pray

With God each mile

His way shines bright

Patience fills hope

Holding on tight

God’s faithful rope

Love conquers all

Wicked step back

Hearing His call

God’s steady tack

Temptation folds

Righteousness saves

Crafting hands mold

God quiets waves

Dark times expire

Storms fade away

Sowing faith’s fire

God’s firm pathway

From Psalm 37:39-40:  “The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge in the time of trouble.  The Lord helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them because they take refuge in Him.”

Peter Marshall Quote

The Grace of God is sufficient for all our needs, for every problem and for every difficulty, for every broken heart, and for every human sorrow.

From 2 Corinthians 3:4:  “Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.”

Peter Marshall (1902-1949) was a Scottish-American pastor who later served as Chaplain of the United States Senate.

Hope’s Eyes

Every school year brings challenges to our youngest learners in the classroom.  These struggling children find hope in a teacher, administrator, custodian, instructional assistant, or any other type of mentor.  This is the hope of this poem.

Fearing tomorrow’s tasks

Dreaming of something more

Probing life’s gloomy path

Failing again to score

Meeting darkness once more

Ignoring teacher’s clues

Bearing sounds of silence

Surrounding failure’s blues

Learning nothing today

Parking in empty space

Sharing with hidden friend

Reaching familiar place

Retreating to safe zone

Boarding life’s empty plane

Watching goals crushed again

Seeing more fire than rain

Entering new classroom

Looking into hope’s eyes

Hearing assuring voice

Launching learning’s sunrise
