Andrew Murray Quote

Pride must die in you, or nothing of heaven can live in you.

From 2 Corinthians 10:17-18:  “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.  For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved but those whom the Lord commends.”

Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African Christian pastor, writer, and teacher.  He believed that Christians should always place a great emphasis on maintaining a rich, personal devotional life.

Love Comes Alongside

Photo by Johannes Plenio on Pexels.com

In tomorrow’s shadows

Worry waits to jump out

Disappointment crashes in

Filling waves with doubt

Aspirations seem dashed

Sunrise seemingly locked

Yesterday not forgotten

Seeing future blocked

Breath of sorrow surrounds

Hope seen flowing away

Another storm standing tall

Searching through its gray

Dreams no longer brightened

Today’s voyage postponed

Been at this moment before

Feeling self disowned

Freedom shares patient heart

Journey no longer drowned

Faithful love comes alongside

Sailing homeward-bound

Ernest Hemingway Quote

Time is the least thing we have.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) was an American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist.

Redemption’s Seed

From Genesis 15:5-6:  “He brought him [Abram] outside and said, ‘Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.’  Then He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’  And he believed the Lord, and the Lord reckoned it to him as righteousness.”

Faith’s wilderness journey

Trusting Father above

His righteousness shineth

Doubts transfigured with love

Aimless breath transitions

Believing without fear

Promised Father’s actions

Salvation coming near

Faith’s encouraging steps

Absorbing Father’s voice

Comfort’s forgiving tone

Witness light’s blessed choice

Hope’s unshakable rock

Following Spirit’s lead

Connects with Father’s grace

Planted redemption’s seed

Faith’s confidence matures

Harvesting Father’s peace

Awakened from darkness

Savior’s risen new lease

Each day, each moment is so pregnant with eternity that if we tune in to it, we can hardly contain the joy.

From Psalm 118:24:  “Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.”

Gloria Gaither (born 1942) is a Christian singer, songwriter, and speaker.  She performed with the Bill Gaither Trio from 1965 to 1991.

O. Henry Quotes

Inject a few raisins of conversation into the tasteless dough of existence.

It ain’t the roads we take; it’s what’s inside of us that makes us turn out the way we do.

O. Henry, the pen name of William Henry Porter (1862-1910), was an American writer who mastered the art of crafting short stories.
