Montana’s Lone Mountain stands above most peaks
Providing skiing challenges and fun for all to seek
Today brings a most special day on this tallest mountain
Witnessing a wedding with more beauty than a fountain
On a clear and cold Friday love will indeed arrive
Blessing the union of two people to forever thrive
This loving couple enjoys their shared passion to ski
Planning to tie the knot with a wedding party to see
The adoring bride and groom arrive at mid-morning
Riding to the lofty summit in a gondola that’s soaring
There’s no more beautiful moment than a wedding
Joining of two lives as one in this majestic setting
Wedding vows are exchanged in wind—bitter cold
Sharing their simple words of love, special and bold
Precious wedding rings left at home, safely hidden
Dropping them in the deep snow would be forbidden
The brief ceremony moves to its eventual conclusion
Watching the husband kiss his wife seals the union
The newly married couple dressed in their skiing attire
Planning to ski down before remaining daylight expires
The young bride is easy to see as she finishes her run
Wearing a white veil on top of her helmet, just for fun
Both the husband and wife are skiers of great skill
Continuing to enjoy a few more runs is quite a thrill
The Lord has blessed this couple’s wedding day
Smiling at their love with beloved words to say
My youngest daughter and her wonderful husband were married on February 2, 2018. Yes, they were married just below the summit of Lone Mountain in southwestern Montana. I honor their union with this poem. The picture was taken by a member of the wedding party, and it captures the newlyweds completing their first ski run as husband and wife.
That’s very beautiful. I lived in Wyoming for 6 years and regret I never spent any time in Montana. All I got was a quick dash through the North Entrance of Yellowstone just so I could say I went to Montana LOL

Wally, small world sometimes. I taught one year in Wheatland, Wyoming back in the mid-1980s.

Been through there a few times! 3 of my 6 years were spent in Caper, where the wind never stops blowing!

Very nice! I liked the part about not dropping the rings in the deep snow too. That would be terrible… 🙂

Yes, rubber rings made a great substitute.
