This series of poems (written in the German-inspired style of Elfchen or Elevenie) shares a total of eleven words in each poem, with a sequence by line of one, two, three, four, and one words.
Discipleship is a decision to live by what I know about God, not by what I feel about Him or myself or my neighbors.
From Micah 6:8: “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
From John 8:31-32: “Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in Him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.'”
Throughout life spent with our Father
Clutching His message, forthright Word
Students learning each day and night
Growing in Christ, God’s flock He herds
Disciples of faith, taught by God
Walking in step with Jesus Christ
Children of truth’s Living Spirit
Guiding hands, Shepherd sacrificed
Christ’s lessons teach, lighting our way

Weary times, filled with quiet tears
Witnessing mankind’s cruelest hurts
Hate, division, violence, fears
God’s grace, peace, love . . . never deserts
When witnessing injustice, stand
Lift up voices, sing with passion
Offer a loving, helping hand
Filled with oneness and compassion
No longer sit with thoughts muzzled
Liberty-filled harmonies ring
God’s grace flows, days never puzzled

From 1 John 5:3-5: “For the love of God is this, that we obey His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
The discipline of dismay is an essential necessity in the life of discipleship. When the darkness of dismay comes, endure until it is over, because out of it will come that following of Jesus which is an unspeakable joy.
From Mark 10:32: “They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; they were amazed.”
From the words of Scottish evangelist and Christian teacher, Oswald Chambers: “We are not turned into spiritual mediums, but into spiritual messengers; the message must be part of ourselves.”
Our time here on this earth
Limited and finite
Humble servants of God
Carry on the good fight
Called to spread the Good News
Find one person at a time
Urged to evangelize
Sharing God’s paradigm
Giving us strength in faith
Our Lord standing with us
Invite all to listen
Proclaim His truth, a plus
As our God’s messengers
Hearts broken by our flaws
Baptized by Holy Spirit
Drafted into His cause
From 2 Timothy 4:2: “Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.”

It is the secret of true discipleship to bear the cross, to acknowledge the death sentence that has been passed on self, and to deny any right that self has to rule over us.
From Luke 9:23: “Then He [Jesus] said to them all, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.'”

A disciple is a follower of Christ. That means you take on His priorities as your own. His agenda becomes your agenda. His mission becomes your mission.
From John 12:25-26: “Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves Me must follow Me, and where I am, there will My servant be also. Whoever serves Me, the Father will honor.”
