Breath of Kindness

Community’s landscape

Overflowing with needs

Steps of kindness gather

Warming with grace that feeds

Invisible to most

Sowing with heavens’ love

Seeds of kindness planted

Sharing peace from above

Hope arrives every day

Connecting with traction

Breath of kindness travels

Harvesting each action

Slowly outlook changes

Nourishing so many

Light of kindness nurtured

Forwarding with plenty

One week, one day, one hour

Volunteering mends hearts

Proof of kindness growing

Doing its faithful part

Haim Ginott Quotes

Photo by Antoni Shkraba Studio on Pexels.com

Empathy, a parent’s ability to understand what a child is feeling, is an important and valuable ingredient of child rearing.

It is said that nature always sides with the hidden flaw.  Teachers have the opposite role; to side with the hidden asset, to minimize a child’s deficiencies, intensify his experience, and enlarge his life.

Haim Ginott (1922-1973) was an Israeli-born school teacher and child psychologist.  He pioneered techniques about how to converse with children.

Randy Pausch Quotes

Photo by Israel Garcia on Pexels.com

We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.

When we’re connected to others, we become better people.  [Both quotes come from Pausch’s “The Last Lecture” given on September 18, 2007.]

Randy Pausch (1960-2008) was an American educator and professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University.  His life was cut short by pancreatic cancer, but he persevered to share his final lecture a few months before his death.

Wendell Berry Quotes

When I rise up, let me rise up joyful like a bird.  When I fall, let me fall without regret like a leaf.

The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all.  It is the healer and restorer and resurrector.

Wendell Berry (born 1934) is an American novelist and poet.  Much of his writing embraces the goodness of protecting our environment and preserving agriculture’s way of life.

Haim Ginott Quotes

To reach a child’s mind a teacher must capture his heart.  Only if a child feels right can he think right.

Often an ounce of humor is worth a ton of words.

Haim Ginott (1922-1973) was an Israeli-born school teacher and child psychologist.  He pioneered techniques about how to converse with children.
