Mount Rushmore National Monument is located in South Dakota’s Black Hills. The sculptured figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln stand watch.
Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865)
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909)
If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn’t sit for a month.
My mom quoted that Abe Lincoln one many times to me when I was a kid growing up. But I had not heard that Roosevelt quote before. It is a treasure… so true! Indeed, most of my troubles are the result of my own foolishness!!

It is amazing how voices from the past carry rich relevance in today’s world. Lincoln could be quite the philosopher for the common man, and Roosevelt never shied away from speaking his mind.

They certainly do! They speak volumes, but more people need to pay attention.
