Trusting Always

From Psalm 37:5-6:  “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.  He will make your vindication shine like the light and the justice of your cause like the noonday.”

Trusting always, Lord’s righteousness

Living under His cherished love

Filling each heart with His desires

Praises reign from heaven above

Trusting always, Lord’s promised light

Committing to His divine way

Shining upon mercy’s justice

Darkness vanquished, fading away

Trusting always, Lord’s faithful path

Sending love with His timely grace

Accepting redemption’s blessing

Peace extended, let all embrace

Trusting always, Lord’s hallowed Word

Reading as His blueprint unfolds

Gathering spirit leads us forth

Faith growing from Gospel’s foothold

From Psalm 37:39-40:  “The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge in the time of trouble.  The Lord helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them because they take refuge in Him.”

God’s goal is not to make you happy.  It is to make you His.

From Psalm 119:76:  “Let Your steadfast love become my comfort according to Your promise to Your servant.

Faithful River

From Psalm 65:5:  “By awesome deeds You answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation; You are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.”

Headwaters on mountaintop

Watered from heavens above

Praises from valley below

Earth’s bounty fills with God’s love

Holy temple blooms with peace

Sky, earth, seas breathe with God’s grace

Light proclaims deliverance

Salvation for human race

Faithful river dries each tear

Troubled seas no longer toss

God answers as He promised

Hope fulfilled on darkest cross

Quietness covers each land

Eternity’s Son shall rise

Spirit opens morning sky

God answers with new franchise

From Psalm 65:9:  “You visit the earth and water it; You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide the people with grain, for so You have prepared it.”

Abundant Life

From Isaiah 55:3:  “Incline your ear, and come to Me; listen, so that you may live.  I will make with you an everlasting covenant, My steadfast, sure love for David.”

Filled with thirst and hunger

Listen to God’s trusted Word

Promising to fulfill daily needs

Lifetime’s path no longer blurred

Raining from heavens

Spirit quenches every thirst

Living water flowing ever more

Sin’s darkest journey reversed

Sown with God’s mercy

Harvest of grace now ready

Bread of life feeds His new covenant

Life’s navigation steady

Praises poured with joy

Heavens bursting, full of song

Mountaintops joining valleys below

Abundant life comes along

From Isaiah 55:10:  “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”

Mercy’s Trusted Flame

From 2 Corinthians 5:6-7:  “So we are always confident, even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Lost in fog of sinful flesh

Hidden from Father’s intent

Caught again in evil’s net

Faith’s ember waits to repent

Selfishness, full of darkness

One more transgression adds shame

Swallowed by false promises

Faith finds mercy’s trusted flame

Spirit breathes with precious grace

Savior’s blood washes sin clean

Paid for from Calvary’s cross

Faith’s pastures, forever green

In Christ, walking His high road

Old ways now passing away

Reconciled by Father’s love

Faith maturing, day by day

From the words of American pastor and Christian author, Charles Swindoll:  “The only way to find happiness in the grind of life is to do so by faith.”

Monday Memories: God’s Promises

From Matthew 7:13-14:  “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it.  For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Life tempting us with enticing shortcuts

Most of these never seem to bring success

Gods speaks honestly, always asking us

Did we burrow deeper, rather than guess?

Clever world flooding us with remedies

Formulas for a more successful life

Simple, surefire, easy to use, guaranteed

God’s formula, always true without strife

Never shy from following the Father

He doesn’t promise a road without bumps

God offers promises with blessed love

His way leading us forward, our hearts jump

Requiring patience, life’s a marathon

God remains our Rock, faithful and steadfast

His blessings fill our lives in countless ways

Our ship sails, with eternal hope amassed

Losing hope at times, seeking a quick fix

Encouragement and trust arrives from God

Offering us Grace, filled with peace and joy

Grateful, He accepts us, totally flawed

From the words of Saint Teresa of Avila, “We ought to make some progress, however little, every day, and show some increase of fervor.  We ought to act as if we were at war–as, indeed, we are–and never relax until we have won the victory.”

Love’s Promised Peace (Fourth Sunday of Advent)

From Isaiah 7:13-14:  “Then Isaiah said, ‘Hear then, O house of David!  Is it too little for you to weary mortals that you weary my God also?  Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign.  Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son and shall name Him Immanuel.'”

Jesus promised peace for those who trust in Him, and He delivers on His promises.

From John 16:12-13:  “But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.”

From John 14:15-16:  “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever.”

No matter how many good deeds we’ve done or how many mistakes we’ve made, God’s love for us remains the same.

From Isaiah 49:15-16:  “Can a woman forget her nursing child or show no compassion for the child of her womb?  Even these might forget, yet I will not forget you.  See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.”
