Turning Life’s Page

Photo by Ivan Pozniak on Pexels.com

Living on hidden island

Searching through another day

Overwhelming heartache

Waiting, filled with emptiness

Whispering thoughts, every night

Hearing silence once again

Tears drowning in sorrow

Waiting for new direction

Making one more decision

Holding torch, ready to light

Prepared to burn last bridge

Waiting to strike final match

Listening again, a voice

Growing stronger each minute

Conscience stirs from abyss

Waiting, no longer needed

Turning life’s page, new chapter

Leaving island at long last

Light leads to happiness

Revealing brilliant sunrise

In Father’s Glory

From Psalm 121:1-2:  “I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

Echoing message of love

From whom will lasting hope thrive?

Looking to Father’s insight

His grace through faith comes alive

Awaking every morning

Eyes look to heavens above

Witnessing Father’s goodness

Filled with everlasting love

Carving out another day

Safe in Father’s guiding hands

Following His righteousness

Watchman over distant lands

Walking with our Creator

In Father’s glory, each time

Scaling mountainous darkness

Mercy’s light fills every climb

From Psalm 121:7-8:  “The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life.  The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.”

Elisabeth Elliot Quote

Photo by Krivec Ales on Pexels.com

It is God to whom and with whom we travel, and while He is the End of our journey, He is also at every stopping place.

From Proverbs 21:21:  “Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor.”

Elisabeth Elliot (1926-2015) was a Christian author and speaker.  She and her husband, Jim, spent time as missionaries in Ecuador.

Monday Memories: Life Looks Back

Dusty top of the kitchen fridge

No worries about cleaning

Unless . . .

Taller guests come to play bridge

Windshield wipers, broken and worn

Needing to be replaced

But never . . .

Attempt when rain becomes airborne

Congested and overmatched table

Keeping life healthy and in order

Looking like . . .

Walgreens, filled with pill labels

Remembering school days past

Time to take another test

Pausing . . .

Hoping the “ditto” smell will last

Self-driving cars, soon to be the craze

Sitting in one, with perplexed look

Pondering . . .

Will the back seat driver be unfazed?

Raiding the freezer for a midnight snack

Hunger disrupts blissful sleep

What’s this . . .

Cookie Dough ice cream has been hijacked

Installing a terrific app on her “hip” phone

Grandson helps his Grandma out

Meanwhile . . .

With his flip phone, Grandpa feels quite alone

Finding a parking spot is tonight’s mission

Free valet parking

Guaranteed . . .

When you drive a manual transmission

So many toilet paper choices and sizes

What ever happened to having just one?

Confusing . . .

Mega and Super Mega waiting in disguise

Enjoying a late night film on television

Fearful of falling asleep

Always prepared . . .

Setting an alarm, allows for night vision

Reading and proofreading, reading once more

Retired English teacher

Never satisfied . . .

Writing a “perfect” text with words to adore

If you have enjoyed this bit of fun

Wait for the next round

When . . .

Doughnuts and coffee for everyone

Charles Stanley Quote

Becoming who God created us to be is a lifelong process, which often occurs in small moments as we choose love over every other thing.

2 Corinthians 5:17:  “So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation:  everything old has passed away; look, new things have come into being!”

Just Another Day

Photo by Jenny Uhling on Pexels.com

Driving dusty country road

Spotting landscape’s mountain peak

Deciding to climb her now

Stopping at cozy diner

Feeling extra hungry now

Ordering one more entrée

Traveling to nearby park

Witnessing fall’s colors now

Taking plenty of photos

Locating brand new car wash

Seeing truck looks dirty now

Selecting supreme wash job

Seeing family in need

Buying them blessed, hot meal

Filling up empty tank now

Pausing, time with Father now

Praying for needs of others

Thanking Him for many gifts

Wrapping up for now . . . just another day!

Rendezvous

Photo by McClain Crigger on Pexels.com

From creation’s headwaters

River’s energy never rests

Hearing mountainous echoes

Ready for nature’s big test

Faithful as morning’s sunrise

River’s journey covers distance

Navigating every mile

Ready to lead with persistence

Nature salutes steady flow

River’s majesty looks ahead

Following distant landmarks

Ready to search for beachhead

Goal set by master’s vision

River’s eyes searching oceans blue

Wrapping up eternal trip

Ready for its rendezvous

Mission now accomplished

River’s destiny all complete

Blessing past, present, and future

Ready with lasting heartbeat
