S. D. Gordon Quote

Photo by Djordje Vezilic on Pexels.com

Prayer wonderfully clears the vision; steadies the nerves, defines duty; stiffens the purpose; sweetens and strengthens the spirit.

From Psalm 91:14-16:  “Those who love Me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know My name.  When they call to Me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.  With long life I will satisfy them and show them My salvation.”

Samuel Dickey (S. D.) Gordon (1859-1936) was an American Christian author and evangelist.

Transforming Fate

Dawn of new day descends

Sky buckles from thunder

Clouds of darkness contend

Filled with newfound wonders

Storm calms, dances away

Sunny face welcomed back

Good vibes arrive to say

Filled with joy’s precious snacks

Hours pass with timely bliss

Thirsty minutes consumed

Yet, life never amiss

Filled with flowers all bloomed

Moonlight ascends on cue

Tomorrow’s sunlight waits

Every shadow’s breakthrough

Filled with transforming fate

C. S. Lewis Quote

Every day in a life feels the whole life with expectation and memory.

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) was a British author and Christian theologian.  His full name is Clive Staples Lewis.

Redemption Assured

From Job 19:25-26:  “For I know that my vindicator lives and that in the end He will stand upon the earth; and after my skin has been destroyed, then in my flesh I shall see God.”

Darkness shadows day

Each forgotten path

Sown hope uprooted

Crushed by evil’s wrath

Consumed with anger

Future’s light escapes

Forsaken feelings

Each evolving shape

Innocence cries out

Emptiness of heart

Tomorrow frozen

Outlook breaks apart

Faith’s net cast away

Trust lacking within

Tide now rushing forth

God always knows when

Redemption assured

Risen Savior lives

Light’s ember blossoms

Peace forever gives

From Psalm 17:6-7:  “I call upon You, for You will answer me, O God; incline Your ear to me; hear my words.  Wondrously show Your steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at Your right hand.”

John Owen Quote

Fill your affections with the cross of Christ that there may be no room for sin.

From Matthew 13:41-43:  “The Son of Man will send His angels, and they will collect out of His kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, and they will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

John Owen (1616-1683) was an English Puritan church leader and theologian.

Sometimes a writer’s journey takes him into a deeper realm, and escape only arrives when another page is filled in his writing notebook.
