Thomas Paine (1737-1809) was an English-American activist, philosopher, and revolutionary. His pamphlet, “Common Sense,” served as an active voice in support of the American Revolutionary War.
That second quotation resonates with me and makes me think of our current problems in our nation. Not to get political since both parties do the same thing, but I think the people in office have forgotten who put them there and why.

Vickie, thanks for sharing on these thoughts from Thomas Paine. Several of today’s politicians seem more interested in hearing their voice, being on social media, and (as you say) seemingly forgetting their true purpose.

Paine was definitely on to something when he published his writings in support of the American revolution.
