Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere.
There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.
Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) was a Romanian-born writer and professor. As a Holocaust survivor, he later lived in France and the United States. He recounted his experiences from the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps when he wrote NIGHT in 1960. In 1986, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Elie Wiesel had a lot of wisdom to share. He certainly suffered a lot – because of the Nazis – but the world has benefited from his wisdom.

Indeed! Elie Wiesel gifted the world with so much of his wisdom. When I was in high school, we read NIGHT. His words burned those images of Auschwitz into my mind forever.

Jim, I appreciate your thoughtful words. As I sit here, my thoughts go to the enduring prayers Elie Wiesel and so many others used during their imprisonment in these concentration camps.
