This quotations series will focus on four significant U.S. Army generals from World War II. Each man contributed mightily to the overall success of the Allies war effort. This outstanding quartet will feature: George C. Marshall, George S. Patton, Douglas MacArthur, and Omar Bradley. Postings will include two of these gentlemen at a time.
Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964)
Men since the beginning of time have sought peace.
Omar Bradley (1893-1981)
Wars can be prevented just as surely as they can be provoked, and we who fail to prevent them must share the guilt for the dead.
I had not seen that Omar Bradley quote before… quite poignant. Quite appropriate in today’s world! Maybe for all time!

I agree with your thoughts Jan. Bradley’s words remind us there is a cost for our hostile actions towards other nations.

One of Bradley’s nicknames says a lot about his character as a military leader . . . the G.I.’s General.
